1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Kinai just turned one on July 21st and I've heard quite a few comments on him being thinner. Being A male I figured he'd be a bit bulkier by now but, I just wanted to ask if anyone here could give me a bit more of and educated opinion. His father was 60lbs but I have weighed him recently, if that would help just let me know. Thanks in advance.

Devin, there are two threads that relate specifically to what a members dog weigh at what age.

Take a look at this thread
and then if you're not bleary eyed try this thread as well.

That'll give you an idea of what other people dogs weighed at various ages.

Maybe now's a good time to point out that Huskies grow up during their first year or so and then grow out during the next 6 - 12 months. In other words, don't expect your boy to be full grown until he's about two years old or so.

On that note, for some reason, most people seem to think that 1) Huskies are big dogs - they're not, generally they're a good sized medium dog and 2) because of 1) think they should be heavy dogs, generally they're not.

Because most people perceptions (including many vets) are misconceptions they have to say that 'your dog is small for a Husky!' when, in fact, the smaller lankier Husky is more the norm.

Body condition wise he looks perfect. Structurally he does not appear he will be a 'large' male, and at 33 lbs he's well under what you'd expect for a male. I would caution you to compare parents to your pup as parents alone do not determine size. Overall I wouldn't fret, it's just who he is.
