Also are they somewhat smart.

1.  Are you getting a puppy?  If so, start him off at 5 min exercise for every month in age.  For example, Zhukov is 5 months old, so we do a 25-30 min walk per day.  That does not include outside play time and training.

2.  Every dog is different, but mine is perfectly ok at home.  He sure does like to curl up at my feet while I am working at the desk.

3.  My buddy has a Husky and lives in an apartment.  He never complained, but again, every dog is different.

4.  Oh lord!  Huskies are SMART.  Sometimes though, they are smarta$$es...  Zhukov was easy to potty train once we got over our worm issue, but crate training for him was like teaching a hamster to build a space shuttle.

5.  I have not tried to train Zhukov to park yet.  He still has problems driving in a straight line.  HA HA!  Sorry, had to do it.  Ok, my dog is very non-verbal.  He only barks when he is playing.  A burglar could break in, steal the wife's jewelry, stab me to death in the kitchen, and that dang dog would NOT make a sound.  Swear to God.

6.  For a puppy, you NEED to get the basic shots.  Rabies, distemper, Bordetella.  Also, you need to get the heartworm and tick disease check.  I think those shots are once a year after that for the first 3 years.

7.  Not sure what you mean by loyal to the owner.

8.  At 5 months, Zhukov has not started to shed yet, however, apparently, Huskies blow out their coat about twice a year.  Daily brushing is apparently needed.  I have seen videos where owners brush out enough fur to make a whole new dog.

9.  I started walking Zhukov at 8 weeks (when I got him).  Very short walks, about 10 min at a time.

10.  Google is your friend.  Just jump on the net and start looking for Husky breeders.  Do your research on the breeder.  Also, look for rescues in your area.

11.  Huskies are VERY smart.  They are also known as escape artists.

I have had many dogs over the years.  All different breeds.  German Sheppards, Schnauzers, Scottish Terrier, and a couple of mutts thrown in the mix.  That being said, I LOVE my Husky.  He is totally different and unique.  Personality out of the kazoo, funny, smart, and lovable.

Mark Grubbs gave some great info I'll try and answer 7. If you mean loyal in the way that GSD are protective and always looking out for their master, then I would say no. They dont make very good guard dogs normally. They will love you and your family, but they will also love everyone else (if well socialized). Often they aren't "one man dogs".  This may also depend on the dog.

Oh and the barking, I got a super vocal dog who "talks" back to everything I say to her. Look up husky talking on YouTube and that's what I deal with constantly. The other one is relatively quiet maybe 1 bark every 3 weeks.

This is great info. I say most of these answers depend on the dog you get, the way you raise/train it and how much you exercise it. A tired dog is a good dog.

Mark and Colleen MVPs! One thing though is when you say puppies on sale do you mean puppies for sale or cheap puppies? Puppies from reputable breeders can be pretty pricey. Then again so are puppy mills. Have you considered rescuing? If it's your first dog you might be surprised by how often eight week old puppies have to go out (about every two hours). Having a slightly older puppy can be a lot less stressful.

Ah i heard getting a puppy from a breeder can be pretty expensive (the ones around my area ask for 900 USD). However i really want a puppy so that i can start the training at a younger age. Also i hear puppies from the petstores are not very "good"

Rescues do get puppies in check out the breed specific rescues around you and she what their application requirements are.

The problems with puppies from stores is a lot of times they are extremely expensive probably over priced. They often lack certain social skills from being in the display case all day and that can lead to behavioral problems later on. Also they have a tendency to be harder to potty train because they have to to go in their case so they don't learn to keep their crate clean. Sometimes they aren't the healthiest either.

My sister got a puppy from a puppy store and while she was lucky to get him healthy, he's also a nightmare. He bites, barks like crazy, won't potty outside. He was also ridiculously expensive for a Puggle.

And all this is without going into the puppy mill debate. It's easier to stay away from puppy stores. I'm sure people have gotten amazing dogs that way, but I wouldn't risk it.

Definitely avoid petshops. You'll likely just be putting money into puppy mills and with the amount of inbreeding and torture that goes on in those things you'll pay tenfold in vet bills later on. Same is often true for back yard breeders.

Sometimes good breeders do dumb things and hold puppies for a few weeks when someone makes a deposit and never picks them up. Then you might be able to get the puppy for a cheaper rate. So if you find a reputable breeder it might not hurt to keep them on your radar. Definitely consult the sticky on what to look for in a breeder.

Also keep in mind when budgeting that dogs are quite expensive, lol! Research what you're going to feed pupper and how much so that you can budget food. Neutering and microchipping and checkup for loki was about two hundred bucks for me. Every year his vaccines and checkup run another hundred. Grooming tools for home grooming were about 50. His coat conditioner and shampoo are about 30 every six months or so. Toys and chews are maybe fifty a month (he might be a little spoiled). Once a month we get a full service groom to file his nails and clean up the fur on his paw pads which is about 80. We use petslife oral care spray which is about twenty but a bottle lasts awhile. Puppy training classes were 120. Also stuff comes up so you need to have a little in savings as well. Last month dumbbutt found a daffodil on the side of the house and ate it. 200.00 vet bill right there, lol!

Just wanted to bring that up since you said it was your fist dog I didn't want you to be surprised. It's always good to think ahead on that stuff. If you know about all that then please disregard, lol!

I think you need to find something that is comfortable to you as far as potty training. I used potty bells at my door and the older dogs help. Lots of taking them out ever so often, as soon as they get up as soon as they stop from playing, as soon as you take your eye off them. Lots of praise after they potty outside. There is a great STICKY to read about potty training also.

I also use a bell by the door. I realized that since Zhukov is so non-verbal that I needed an alternative way for him to let me know that he needs to go outside. My Schnauzer will go sit by the door and bark, but Zhukov will just go sit by the door and if you don't notice him in time, he will pee right there.

Young Huskys need to pee ALOT. I mean, EVERY 2 hours, after play, after taking a drink of water, after looking at a toy, and generally after any action that requires thought and an active heartbeat. Lol!

Seriously, though, I rang the bell everytime I let him out to go potty, and after a day or so, he was ringing the bell like a champ. I just hung 2 chime bells that I took off one of my wife's Christmas ornaments on a string and tied that to the door handle.

1. For a puppy, they can go for a walk five minutes for every month old they are. This would mean an eight week old puppy could go for a ten minute walk. As an adult, a Husky can run for long periods of time without rest. A walk around the block isn't going to cut it. My recommendation is to have them run alongside your bike for about 30 minutes each day (longer if you can manage it). That will be enough to exercise them and they'll behave nicely inside your home.
2. In general, yes, they are pretty chill at home if they are given the right amount of exercise. But remember each dog is an individual and this may not apply to all of them. Some Huskies are just naturally more active, even with exercise.
3. An apartment is just fine provided you're willing to give them the exercise mentioned above.
4. Potty training a Husky is pretty easy, but remember they don't have good bladder control until they're about three to four months old. During this time, they'll pee inside whenever they feel the need to do so rather than wait until you're able to bring them out, so it's crucial they go outside every two hours, after napping, eating/drinking, or playing. If an accident does occur, don't yell or spank them. Calmly clean up the mess and take the puppy outside, making sure to praise them if they potty in the right place.
5. In my experience, Huskies don't bark much at all. They'll howl and "talk" (you'll have to look this up on YouTube) quite a bit. My Huskies have always barked so infrequently that it always surprised me when they did, and they were usually surprised by something themselves, which is why they barked.
6. The shots they receive each year are the same shots other dogs receive.
7. A person's definition of loyalty varies so much that it would be hard to determine if the loyalty of a Husky is what you're looking for. Their loyalty is different from a German Shepherd's, for example.
8. You could get away with brushing a Husky once per week with the exception of when they're blowing their coat. This happens for three weeks twice per year. You'll want to brush them daily during this time.
9. A puppy can be walked as soon as you have them, but many people will recommend waiting until they've gotten all of their puppy shots or being cautious about where you walk them in order to minimize the risk of parvo and other diseases puppies are susceptible to. Personally, I walked my puppy from the first day I had him.
10. You can find Huskies for sale in many places! There are lots of options for finding the right one. I recommend adopting a Husky over purchasing from a breeder because it's often cheaper and their temperaments and health are evaluated before they're given to someone. If you have a specific reason for wanting to get a Husky from a breeder (such as wanting to show, breed, need the dog for a specific purpose, like service work, etc), then you'd obviously want to go that route instead. I purchased my puppy from a breeder with the intentions of showing him, but then his testicle didn't descend. Had I known I wouldn't be able to show him, I would've preferred to adopt. But I love him, so I don't regret it. You can use Google to find Husky breeders in your area, or akc.org lists breeders as well if you're willing to pay to have a puppy shipped to you. If you're willing to go the adoption route, I recommend checking out petfinder.com.

But pick a topic - potty training, for instance - go to our search bar and you'll find out all sort of things about "house breaking" a puppy - I'd bet you'll find out the answers to questions you'd like to have asked had you thought of them.

Siberian (and other Husky's) are literally like no other breed you've ever seen. They're, on the whole, more intelligent than almost any other breed and that means that you really have to be on your toes to keep up with them - 'cause you aren't often going to get ahead!

If I could suggest, before you post your next question - think about it as a subject and then do a search on it. Without being too much of an a$$ let me say, most of us will answer your questions but you could make it easier on all of us if you'd do your homework first.
