| Hi and welcome to the forum - though I"m not sure whether Skylar or Max is the human partner (Help!!)
Your question and pictures are interesting to me ... and present a very odd mixture of similarities.
The Siberian Husky, as a breed, is about 3000 years old; the Czeck Wolfdog is about 75 years old ... and that's about where the dissimilarities end. The Husky is related to an extinct Taymyr wolf and the woldfog is directrly related to the Carpathian wolf - both being northern breed wolves. I think I can see why there are similarities.
But a better answer is that you Husky appears to me to be 'pure Husky'. There are whole lines who have marking like yours and some consider those to be the 'proper' colouring and marking, though any colour / marking is acceptable. One of the few absolute faults to the Husky is a 'wooley' but several lines have long hair.
Since Huskies are running dogs (in more ways than one!) it's the exception when they are not 'lean and lanky' or I prefer to phrase it 'very svelte'.
I hope I haven't confused the issue for you .... sorry if I have. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| She looks pure to me too. There are running lines and show lines. show lines tend to be more fluffy while many running lines are sleeker and not as thick in the fur. Poor quality breeding can cause some features to look a little "off" when compared to show dogs. Her head structure is a little different as you mentioned but not so far off that back yard breeding couldn't be the cause. She's very pretty. _________________ |

| Ooh I hope Renee responds. She knows a lot about wolves and German shepherds, so I bet she's the best for this question.
If you ask me your furbaby looks like a husky. |

| Danielle, I am here, lol.........I agree with the others, that she looks like a racing line husky...but..she does have some features that isn't all husky to me, but not of the czech lines. Czechs are not extremely common, and definitely not common enough to have a mix. My girl is very similar in appearance to yours. and from what I gather with my girl is gsd/husky, with the gsd being a few generations back, so predominately husky with gsd influence. You can see it in her more pronounced barrel shaped chest (similar to gsd), her back leg structure is husky, the czech you show as well as gsd's have longer paws you can obviously see the difference inn her back end compared to the czech. Huskies take on slight changes in the muzzle and ears when poorly bred or when mixed. My assumption on poorly bred dogs is in reality another breed mixed in, typically gsd, several generations, so that when the unsuspecting buyer goes to look at pups they see mom and dad on site and they "look" all husky, the "breeder" may assume they have all husky as well, not understanding proper conformation.
Now to explain, because people get worked up having someone call their dog poorly bred.....It isn't a bash on you or your dog, mine is one too and I love her like no other dog. The meaning of poorly bred, is from "breeders" who breed dogs without really looking at the background of the breeding pair. A flaw in a husky shows up, and "breeders" who are not knowledgeable on proper conformation do not notice the flaw, they breed, and when you breed 2 flawed dogs, flaws will show up, and become exaggerated. For intents and purposes I would confidently say you have a pure husky or a husky mix, probably mixed with gsd. |

| MiyasMomma,
Interesting info, regarding her paw length they are just as long as the Czechs, the picture shows her standing in about 1-1/2 of grass, look at the picture with the other Huskies pictures, just saying. I wouldn't get mad if she was mixed or not I love her just the same..

| In the third pic where you have them standing, the czech's length is longer from the pad to ankle compared to your girls. It is ok, no arguments here. I was pointing out that your girl "could" be a mix, over being poorly bred, and well quite often when I say poorly bred to someone they go off on me. her muzzle is more square than a typical husky, and because of the vast amount of gsd x husky breedings out there, I would surmise she is husky with gsd influence(meaning somewhere in her back lines there has a gsd relative). The last pic with her and the other huskies, really shows how they are more of a traditional show coat husky. Show lines and race lines, can to most of us look very different. |

| MiyasMomma,
By gsd do you mean German Shepherd Dog? of course they are not going to be identical to each other but the similarities are pretty damn close, I am not saying shes a Czech and she could have some German Shepherd in her line, even though her marking are all Husky and that this is where it gets interesting to me. |

| Indeed, yes german shepherd dog. It throughs people off all the time. One of the most common crosses are gsd x husky. Typically it is downline, so the actual person who bred your dog is unaware. I truly believe most "poorly" bred dogs are in reality crosses, like I said husky x gsd. In my case, and I am sure in yours, if you look closely ou will find some gsd traits in behavious/personality, for instance my girl is very protective of me and property, not a husky trait at all.
I got into this a few years ago, my girl was sold as husky wolf, but seen no obvious traits and when I dove deep into gsd, husky and wd groups, I am pretty convinced my girls is husky x gsd. I am very happy with that. My 2 favorite breeds, and I get the goofiness of a husky wrapped up in a very protective dog all at the same time.
Czech lines, although similar to gsd, are just not as common here in the states, if we were in Europe I would buy into the husky czech idea. Instead, I would look into her personality, if you are not familiar with gsd's look up their traits and compare to your dog, as well as husky. Commonly if a dog displays physical features of 2 breeds, personality and behavior will match. Much easier to train knowing the differentt breed characteristics as well. I really love her look, beautiful girl you have. |

| Very interesting! I will look up GS traits and compare because she doesn't act very husky like.
She barks at the PG&E guy when he comes in the back yard and that's pretty much all the barking she does other than at the dog park "sometimes" and it is a deep bark. when I whistle she comes in my direction 90% of the time.
She is very chill dog, not once had she been so high strong with energy that I had to take her running, she is good with a walk or run, short or long it doesn't matter. She gets along with everyone and everything other than cats, possums and squirrels of course etc.
She is very smart and picks up on commands very quickly, professional trainer even told me she is very smart and calm for being a Husky, she also told me she has a great nose.
Thank you for all the info! I will definitely dig a little deeper in the gsd. |
