Hey guys!
First, I'm sorry I've been dormant on the forum for so long. My life felt like it was falling apart for a long while. So I'm glad to be back and though you all would enjoy some good news.

I began e-collar training with Koda and things are going WONDERFULLY! I haven't put a leash on her in maybe a week. She gets in and out of the car and usually stays right at my feet. I'm using the Dogtra 300M and am IN LOVE with it. It has a 1/2 mile range, independent levels of nick (0-100), and waterproof. I've been low level training her, so usually, i call her and hit the vibrate. If she doesn't come i nick at a low low level and gradually take it up little by little until she returns. I haven't had to go above 30 except for one time with a chicken. She LOVES the caller and starts wooing if I even pick it up. Here are some pictures of her playing around off leash.

Her shaved belly from the surgery cracks me up!

I want to thank all of you for giving me information to make this a great experience for both Koda and I. This off leash stuff has really been awesome to get down.

Now I have questions.
A. Sometimes the prongs don't connect. Does anyone have a recommendation for longer prongs, or should I just tighten the collar (its already pretty tight, i'm worried it would be choking her)
B. How can I start working on heeling? I want to be able to say heel and for her to walk or sit directly beside me. Obviously this is ambitious, but shes been very quick to pick up training stuff, so I think she could get it.

Excellent choice on the collar. Try contacting dogtra and ask for longer prongs, I know there is a way to get longer ones, my first step would be to contact them first. As far as training the heel, did you check out Lou Castle's web site, he has a vast amount of information, in training for different things. I agree, the collar isn't just for recall. And Koda responds to it like Miya, "so what adventure are we in for today" I love that!! Great pics and I adore you sitting and her mouth in the full on see my big bad fangs daddy, haha. Miss seeing you and Koda on here.

Had the same problem with the prong collar popping open.
Here is a simple backup I made:

I haven't had a problem since.

Tyler, when I got either the collar or the fence collar, I got it so i can put one finger under each prong simultaneously but it is just barely. Also, keep the receiver to the side of the larynx but still down low, Ami is a wooly so i part the hair with my fingers and "seat" the v prions down onto the fur for skin contact. When you put her collar on, maybe part the fur all around the collar to insure skin contact.

I do believe Amazon may make longer contacts. Or try gun dog supply (in think that's the name. You may have to search "gun dog".
