After having a wonderful Husky named Sandy for 17 years, our family went on what my husband decided to call a "dog break". During this 3 year "dog break" we often talked about getting a new dog and all of our conversations ended with "Let's get another Husky!" I wanted a female because our Sandy was such a sweetheart and was also a petite 35 pounds. I also did not want a red Husky so as to preserve the memory of our Sandy. So... two Saturdays ago our family drove over 2 hours to meet a little black and white female who I had found online. As I'm adoring the cute girls, my two sons are with the boys falling in love with an awesome little copper baby boy. Of course, he comes home with us!! I occasionally think of his beautiful 64 pound dad and wonder how much more hair sheds from a 64 pound husky than a 35 pound husky! He is adorable and we are all happy to have ended our "dog break" with another fabulous husky!

wow, 17yrs!!! You're one lucky family to have your furbaby around that long. I only hope and pray that I have my Mya that long. She's only going to be 5yrs old, but her tear drop makes her seem older.My poor baby! Congrats on your addition!!! we recently got Kody, 2 months ago to be exact, and he's 5 months. Loving Mya and us..I hope...LOL

Until recently I don't think I realized how old 17 years is for a husky. She was not herself for about 5 of her last years. We believe that she was suffering from some sort of dimentia. Even though she would stare into corners and leave the room when we entered, she never became violent or seemed unhappy.

Our two boys, ages 10 and 15 are getting used to an active dog again ~ and, boy, is Sabaka active! Whew!
