| Sorry if this has been posted about before. I searched the forums for previous posts for a bit and saw a lot about the two brands but not the puppy formula.
We went to Petsmart today and was gonna by BBW-P because let's face it, I won't know how my dog will react to a food unless he tries it first. There was a Blue Rep there who started asking us about our dog and why we're choosing the Wilderness formula over BB.
He said that he would recommend the BB formula over Wilderness because the BBW-P has a much higher protein content than the BB-P formula. Huskies are prone to hip displaysia and you don't want them to grow too fast. He said that it would be good to have him on BB-P until he starts becoming more physically active (1 year) with runs & exercise, then to switch him to BBW.
I know that BB isn't as good of a food as BBW is, but is that also applicable to the puppy formula? What do y'all think, almighty forumers?

| I wouldn't do regular Blue Buffalo because it has grain in it. Grain is an unnecessary filler, and you really want a grain-free diet. I had Yuki on Wilderness as a pup but turned out she was allergic to chicken so she can't have it xD but if you're going with Blue Buffalo, I would definitely suggest Wilderness. |

I figured I'd do the trial and error method of foods until we find something he likes/is good for him/doesn't make his stool soft. Thanks! P.S. I was searching the husky tag on tumblr a few weeks ago and came across your blog. /followed |

-dani I used to work for blue. Thia person shouldn't have been saying that because by contract they aren't allowed to..its a lawsuit waiting to.happen. especially since he is trying to offer medical advice. Ill also tell you that being a rep requires no training in nutrition or Siberians Id only feed wilderness, and have done so with the results being satisfactory. Not to mention, why would he try to talk you out of the more expensive food? |

There is another BB puppy that doesn't have grain, its called Freedom and I'm not sure how new it is or not but its grain free as well. I don't know what the regular BB is, but this is the only BB puppy formula where I shop. They have all the wilderness ones BUT the puppy food. I was told by my vet to give food for a large breed puppy, and I always assumed that's what wilderness was. I'll be switching Karli to that when she's done with puppy food. |

| Roxy, siberians are not a large breed, they are medium. I would take what most of your vet says on nutrition with a grain of salt. They take a very short course sponsored by Hills, Purina, Royal Canine... and that's it.
In all honesty, puppy food in and of itself is sort of a hoax IMO. Never fed it and never will. I know Kristina never bothered with it either when doing kibble. |

I second this. Got my boosters a few weeks ago- vet told me to take my girl off frozen raw and put her on large breed, recommending Purina. Or Wellness if I needed to, quote, "go more Organic-y." Then talked to me about the next vet visit as if I'd agreed at some point to switch her, when I didn't.. I am, however, switching to a vet a friend with a husky uses and really likes. I trust the community here over a vet I'm not familiar with (and, as it turns out, specializes in ferrets or something). I digress. Anyway, I think my point is that you're under no obligation to feed what the vet says, just read up and feed what you think is best Dani, I'd also go BBW for the reasons above . Also, are there smaller pet stores around you? We have a few here, all the staff are super friendly and give out tons of those little sample bags! They even made me samples of raw, I use the raw brands I didn't choose for kong stuffing lol. That's how I tested foods on Korra. Maybe I'm just cheap... Building a good relationship with a store you like never hurts |

To also note, Blue Buffalo Wilderness Puppy is not a large breed puppy food xP. And Petsmart had Blue Wilderness Puppy in my area if there's one near you. |

| Just realized the brand that was recommended to us was Blue Buffalo Puppy Freedom recipe. Grain-free. It's basically the exact same as BBW except less protein content. Iiiiiiiinteresting. |

| I won't ever feed Balon anything other than BBWilderness. It's the food that he likes, and his bowel movements are well formed (TMI I know).
As stated by others Siberians are not large breed dogs, and as far as I have read aren't really prone to hip problems. |

| i like talking about poop consistency, no big deal the breeder had him on 4health for puppy (grain free, soy free, wheat free) and we're still keeping him on that until the bag is finished then gradually switching him over to BB freedom puppy (also grain free, soy free, wheat free). as far as i can tell, the ONLY difference between BBF and BBW is the protein content. i'll switch him to BBW as soon as he's a little more active. right now all he does is eat and sleep. |

| There is this dog food that I recently came across that has good dog food ratings and is a much easier on the wallet but keeps all the stuff I've wanted in a dog food. I have a small bag of bbw puppy food but I plan on moving him over to this to give it a try . I like the canned food as well and I've always given my dogs a little of both canned and dry. http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/simply-nourish-dry/ |

| I've been feeding Kingsley the Buffalo Blue Freedom Puppy formula. It has a 4 star rating on dogfoodadvisor.com. Kingsley loves it and his stool is perfect and impressive. I plan on switching him over to BBW once he's a year old. |

| They will carry the BBW. Even fi they just have duck or Salmon for Adult, feed that - completely safe! The Ca:P ratio is okay for puppies and it's plenty of protein. I used to work for BB so please, don't let anyone try to "talk you out of it" for a different product. This one is very good and often times, the reps think they know more than they do I will tell you this though...Wednesday is the best night to go. Usually no reps are there so you are free to shop on your own! The real difference between 4Health and BBW is the manufacturer. Personally, Diamond makes me nervous, but BB has a better rep. However, it s COMPLETELY up to the individual pet parent |

I may just switch her to adult then the next time I get food. The nearest petsmart is 45min away so I'm not wasting gas when the NEX carries the food, but they don't have the puppy food in the big 50lb bag (which I calculated that one 50lb bag would save me $2 versus buying the smaller bag) but they have everything else. Karli was on purina when we first got her but I switched her immediately and she loves BB!! |

| I'm still trying to figure out what to switch my pup to. I was planning on sticking with what the breeder was feeding but the more I think about it the more I think I want to feed BBW. I may bypass the puppy food and go straight to the salmon, duck, or chicken recipe to rule out any allergies.
Petsmart is closer to my house than the Tractor Supply store so instead of TOTW BBW it may have to be. I guess we'll just see! _________________ |
