So I started raw feeding but I'm lost with the bone and meat percentage.
I bought cow neck which is meaty but has the rec bones where my pup can't eat... Do I have to buy seperate cartilage bones on the side to make the 10% up ? Also, how would I go about knowing the percentage of meat on the cow neck bones and accurately measure that it's 80% meat?
I give him the bone with meat on it.. Haven't bought cartilage bones yet so someone please give me insight
My pup was on Stella and chewy raw but they're already processed

I know the percentages, but have no way of knowing by using RMB's. I was hoping our resident raw feed guru Val would see your thread, but she is often not on. If my memory serves me, the complete meal should be 2.5-3% of their body weight per day. And yes they have to be able to consume bone, not just chew on it. It also depends on how much meat is on the bone. Did you get this from a butcher? and are doing this as homemade raw? Or buying commercial raw?

It's from the butcher. I bought 10lbs. It's meat and bone together... Like my pup would eat it off the bone. How do I know how much % and weight of meat is on it. Just weigh the bone after he's done and compare to before? Also, that means I'd buy the bone seperate and calculate percentages that way?
I had bought short ribs the first day and that has bones that were chewable but this meat really doesn't. Can't afford anything else right now

Jordan, I went back to your previous threads, your pup is still a pup, and may have difficulty eating beef bones. They are totally fine to give him as a snack, and let him gnaw on them. Have you seen him actually chew and digest the rib bones? I ask because my girl is 19 weeks old, and has a hard time chewing them and she tends to eat too large of chunks, and lucky for me she throws them up, I have since taken bones away from her when she starts to heavily chew. The problem for you is you do not supplement, with say kibble or actual supplements, am I correct? Is he getting his organ meats, like liver? I see no issue with feeding home made raw, but if you do not do it right, and it's a fine line, at his age, I presume, under 6 months old, refresh my memory please, he can have other medical issues if not fed properly. Personally, if you are 100% opposed to feeding a grain free for a part time supplement replacement, I strongly suggest going the chicken route, chicken liver to be 5% of his meal, 10% bone, 80% meat, and the other 5% organ meat.I would probably look into raw chicken, chicken is considerably cheaper of meats to choose from. I personally feel beef should be fed the majority of the time, however, if money stands in your way, then it is more important to feed proper ratios and feed a cheaper protein like chicken.

This forum has a huge section on raw feeding. The link I am giving you kinda breaks things down more and gives you some visual aids in helping you. http://rawfeddogs.org/rawguide.html
The biggest issues for most people is not feeding enough, and not giving proper ratios, especially to puppies. Please read the link I gave you, and the forum section on raw. If you have more questions please don't hesitate to ask. I just think you may not be feeding right, and things like calcium and phospherous ratios are important. The link I gave you is pretty straight forward, gives you exactly what you are asking for. Hope that helps....
