| Igloo is doing great! We keep asking ourselves how did we get to lucky. I had many concerns that it was going to take a while for him to get adjusted to our new life away from his mommy and sister but he seems to be fine. We started crate training right away. Sunday was the first night with us. When it was bedtime we put him in his crate. He whined for a couple minutes then fell asleep. Last night he realized it was bedtime by us getting ready for bed and he went right into his crate! He has had a couple accidents (to be expected) but with every walk he goes potty sooner and sooner. It's almost as he's realizing that's why were outside. Besides the short whining before bedtime he has not made a sound. That was really surprising. I did notice him whining when I wasn't in He keeps trying to become friends with our cat, Bubbles. No Bubbles is NOT ready. This morning Iggy chased Bubs from the basement all the way to the second floor. I chased behind to try to stop him but couldn't keep up. Any advice of getting them to get along or is time really the only answer? We love him soo much! |

| He is so beautiful...I love his facial markings, especially those eyebrows. As for kitty...hopefully she will tell him what's what in no uncertain terms. My boy, whom we got as a 1 yr old is a no go as far as cats. My son's dog, brought home at 4 months, lives with 2 cats - 1 he plays with all the time, sometimes even holding him in his mouth and who, when it gets to be too much, just goes limp. The other? She wants nothing to do with puppy (now 21 mos. old) and even committed a hate crime of sorts - pee'd in puppy's bed all the while glaring at the offending pup Hopefully, your pup will learn to coexist but you will have to watch carefully and intervene if it becomes unsafe. Good luck ! |

| Yennifer, I have two dogs and one cat. The cat came to join us when the dogs were adults so I was more than a little concerned that we might have a course of 'Kitten fricassee' After a few times of them all getting together - and the cat insisting that he was going to be a part of the mix - I gave up worrying. Cat runs, dog(s) chase cat, cat stops, dog(s) stop. It's all obviously in good fun for all of them.
Of course, as Amy said, the cat needs to "tell him no" and cat claws will stop most dogs cold! all my resident cat has to do is raise a paw and both dogs back way off and I don't think he's ever clawed either of them - they just recognize the threat.
A thought as I was reading this after posting it: Bubbles isn't declawed, is he? If he is, you're going to have a harder time keeping Iggy from playing with him - Bubbles doesn't have any real way to stop him.
And he is a cute pup, now where's the picture of Bubbles?? _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| hi, welcome to the forums. beautiful fur baby, very nice eyebrows lol. I've have not had an issue with kitties yet, as we don't have any. my brother on the other hand wants one, not sure if Leo will get along with one, but best of luck with the kitties. |

| He is not declawed! He has thrown a paw or two at Iggy and he usually backs off. Iggy gets really close to Bubbles and starts barking at him so he freaks out. I want them to be buddies more than anything! I got them to lay on the couch today (on opposite ends) for only a couple minutes but it's progress! Iggy is so gentle in general except for when he's dealing with bubbles. If he was more gentle bubbles would probably be ok! Hopefully it'll come with time. Here is Bubs |

| Since Iggy is a puppy and kitty is right there, Iggy wants to play...and husky play is notoriously rough. Good to hear that Bubbles is not declawed. Those claws will go a long way towards teaching Iggy how to live with a kitty,
That's a handsome cat you have! |
