| My Husky, Zeev is 22 weeks old and is 53 lbs .
He was a voracious eater until he was 15 weeks old , we got him when he was 9 weeks old. he used to eat 3 -5 meals each day , never a let a single treat go waste.
For the past couple of weeks , he is not eating as before. He eats just 2 meals per day and that too with not much interest. All of his other activities are normal... play / walk /sleep everything . He just doesn't want to eat like before.
Also, he is loosing his puppy teeth , lost 4 of them and I see he is getting new teeth . I tried to soften his kibble by putting it in warm water, let it cool down before giving it to him . It worked for a few days , but he is not even interested in that anymore .
He like carrots and tomatoes a lot . I try to put grated carrot, chicken pieces , tiny treat pieces as topping on his wet kibble so he would eat , he smartly picks out the pieces and leaves the rest . Is he having issues b'coz he is teething ? or does he like the kibble any more ??
I have even purchased three other kinds of kibble to try out if he likes any of them ..( taste of the wild , blue wilderness and Natural balance, he was on Iams and Purina puppy chow before )
none of these made him eat like how he used to eat before . Have any one experienced this before ?? I am a first time husky mom and new to this forum hoping to find some suggestions/advises ..
Also, I noticed , he tumbles his food bowl trying to topple it down when ever I give him wet kibble with his favorite treats as toppings ??
Is he mad at me for doing that ? or is he trying to search for treats/toppings by trying to topple the bowl down ? |

| how much are you feeding him and what type of kiddle (Brand etc) ? Ours eat 2x per day and occasionally skip meals (or two) huskies sometimes do that. He might just not be hungry. 3-5 meals seems like a lot. |

| we used to feed him Natural balance , Iams Smart puppy, purina Puppy Chow . we used to mix up once in a while Coz he gets bored with same food everyday . since he was a puppy we used to give him small portions ,frequently 3-5 times a day.
We now give him 4 cups , 2 cups each meal .
Taste of the Wild Grain-Free Pacific Stream Dry Dog Food for Puppy Blue Buffalo Wilderness High Protein Dry Puppy Food
4 cups . Is that a lot ?
The packaging on the bag recommends 5-3/4 to 6-1/4 cups for his weight and age group .

| I must have missed his weight on the initial post, but he's 6 month and 53 pounds? he's HUGE already
Ours get 1.75 cups per day.
First of all, the food you used to give him was very low quality compared to the TOTW and BB you now feed, so he isnt needing as much to give him the nutrients he needs. Honestly I'm no expert in the food area, but 4 cups a day is a lot to me. |

| I agree with Kelly. TOTW and Blue, he would need about 2-3 cups max per day, the higher end on a day where he is very active. His disinterest as well as the tumbling of the bowl is probably his way of saying I'm not hungry vs I'm not interested. Also, and especially for puppies I would stick with one brand, and make it grain free, such as the TOTW and Blue, I think the natural balance is grain free too. So pick just one brand for now, as an adult a rotation diet is fine. For future reference huskies are prone to being light eaters, self regulate in which they will go a meal or two without eating, and typically eat 20-25% less food than other breeds. At a year, possibly sooner since he is quite big, he will only require 1-2 cups a day, dependent on how big he ends up. I do know that my girl is bigger than Kelly's and Miya eats 1-2 cups of kibble a day, sometimes not even that much. Hope that helps.
Let me add this, a lean husky is way healthier than a pudgy husky. Don't be fooled by their names, you want a lean dog, it keeps pressure off of bones and joints. It helps in the long run to keep them lean as they age.

| Thanks so much guys for the suggestions above
Did you have to change/modify the kibble while your kids were teething ?

| She probably did eat less, but in reality they want something hard (normally not always) to chew on. My current pup has stated teething and have introduced raw meaty bones to help in the teething process, everyone handles it a bit differently. But she still loves eating her kibble. |

| 4 cups? That's crazy. Your boy sounds like he's way on the bigger end, but that still sounds really high.
For teething, we give our pups frozen waffles. They love gnawing on them and it gives them some relief. |

| Kat, are you talking about frozen waffles you buy at the store, or do you have a doggy recipe? |

| For teething relief you can take a rag you don't intend to use again, wet it, twist it and throw it in the freezer. You can make different shapes with it each time before you freeze it if you get bored lol. Keep and eye out to make sure he doesn't rip off chunks and eat it though. |

| Renee, we use plain old regular Eggos I wouldn't recommend it as a regular thing, but as an occasional treat when their teeth are driving them nuts, it's extremely helpful. |

| Interesting Kat, thank you. I was afraid of the grains in the waffles, but like you said as an occasional treat, good to know. |
