Took my puppy to the vet today and Dr said that he is underweight, approx 12 lbs. He doesn't eat very much so I decided to switch his kibble. Currently I was giving him the food the breeder fed him, Pc Extra Meaty Puppy food but now I purchased a small bag of CANIDAE Life Stages Dry Dog Food.

I looked online and found many positive reviews for the canidae. It was either the canidae ($65 FOR 30 LBS) Or Blue wilderness for puppies
( 72.99 FOR 24 lbs)

Anyone try Canidae?

DJ, how old is your pup now? That would help out to know if pup is really underweight or not. We have a thread here called the weigh in and people post up age and weight so you can compare. My Sofie at 9 weeks weighed 11 pounds, and at 15 weeks weighed 22 pounds, it varies. As long as he is healthy I wouldn't worry much. Also a lean pup/dog is going to be healthier in the long term than an overweight pup/dog. Canidae is a good food, it's a quality kibble, there are many better and worse. It is better than Blue, many huskies do not do well on Blue. If price is not an issue you may want to look at Acana, no recalls and an excellent quality kibble. Canidae is made by Diamond, so it has had issues with recalls in the past.

Oops, sorry just seen your sig and says your pup is almost 11 weeks old. I don't think he is terribly underweight. He is actually right at what my pups weight at about the same age. They do not stay tiny forever, for the most part, and by looking at the size of his mom and dad will give you a better idea on what his end weight will be. My Miya was very tiny and then at 5 months she was huge. So a lot can happen in the next couple of months.

Last night Raiden had a accident in my the living room. At first I thought it was a elastic band. But when i came closer it was FULL OF GIANT WORMS! would this be the reason he is not eating enough.

Indeed, you need to either get a sample, or take Raiden into vet, and get some dewormer. Not sure why your vet hasn't checked for worms, and at his age he should have had, 4 or 5 rounds of dewormer by now. If they are that big, and he has thrown them up and not pooped them out, he is in need of a dewormer immediately. Some worms can wait others you can not wait. Best to be on the safe side, and get him into vet ASAP.

I took his stool sample to the vet as soon as i saw them. Dr gave me something called Strongid T.

Good to hear Dj, just follow your vets instructions. Not familiar with the med, but according to the web, it is for roundworms. Good luck. His appetite should be back soon.
