| Hello, all!
I was curious as to what types of harnesses people are using. I currently have a padded comfort harness from Target (Boots and Barkley) for Nya, but she has learned to manipulate the belly strap to slip out of it. Scared me the first time she did it. But I've learned her behavior, so I know when she's trying to do it. However, yesterday my boyfriend was walking her, and he wasn't aware of how she slips out of it. So, she took off, and it took him by complete surprise. Luckily, she found some vomit to eat from another dog (blech), which prevented her from getting too far.
Should I get a step-in, instead of a padded comfort one? Or are there better ones I should look into? I have a hard enough time trying to get her into the one she has now, so traditional is likely out of the question. |

| There are a ton of different harnesses. Fitment is your main concern. While some are easier to slip (step in style) any that are fitted properly shouldn't be terribly easy to get out of. This thread has a lot of options and some links and pictures to give you a better idea of some as well as use explainations. https://www.itsahuskything.com/t12192-which-harness-would-you-recommend?highlight=harnessI personally don't use a harness. Too much of a pain to put on, cost, and slip possibility. Instead of a harness I use a weiss walkie leash that is a kind of slip lead that is a pseudo harness. There's no backing out of it. _________________ |

| We always used the Softtouch Concepts Sensation and Sensible harnesses. Never had a problem with a dog trying to slip out of them. I would also look at all of the Ruffwear harnesses, as well as Alpine Outfitters. We use all of their gear as well, and have always been satisfied. Just depends on what you're using the harness for. We use AO's X-back harnesses for bikejoring/dog scootering. Softtouch was for controlled walks to deter pulling. Ruffwear has harnesses with packs attached to load up the dogs and weigh them down to help carry items and build muscle at the same time. Our dogs now walk nicely on a fur saver collar and leash. Not a lot of pulling now that they've had proper training and years of experience. Hope that helps! Good luck. Never fun when a husky slips a harness and bolts. |
