| I wasn't sure where to put this, so if it needs to be moved, please do so!
So, from the time I got Nya (she's 16 weeks now), she's had an intense fascination with chewing on sticks when we go outside. I normally take them away from her because I'm afraid that it will hurt her in some capacity, and she tries to stop me from doing so. I was curious as to if anyone actually lets their dogs chew on sticks. She's teething right now, so it's even more than usual. I do give her plenty of other things to chew on when we're inside, though she always tries to bring the sticks inside. Just wondering if I should continue to take them away, or just let her do it. |

| Cora has loved sticks since the day I got her, I asked my vet and he said its fine if she isnt eating large amounts of the stick and if there is moss on the stick take it away. |

| Every dog I've ever had will maul the occasional stick or twenty. Interesting texture, not hard, makes interesting sounds. It's a perfect storm of sensory play. _________________ |

| I'm an expert in the area of sticks. Mine have yet to have anything "bad" happen because of chewing on sticks. Only thing I can really recommend is to make sure the stick or branch doesn't have thorns or doesn't come from a poisonous plant, like Oleander for example. Mine have quite an extensive collection of sticks and branches and chew on them on a daily basis. |

| I have heard of situations where a dog gets a piece of stick wedged across the top of their mouth. It's probably unlikely to happen, just keep an eye on her when she's playing with them.
Overall though, I can't think of any concerns. Especially with a teething puppy, that should be a great distraction. My two go through phases of loving sticks and have more than once tried to bring a favorite inside. |
