| Ugh poor Mishka, hopefully he gets better soon and that sucks about all of the cleaning! I would just do one room at a time everything at his level and start that way just so your safe.
I don't know much around Ringworms, but do they have any idea where he could of picked it up? |

| It could be from anywhere. It's a fungal infection and the spores can be in dirt or bugs or something. So I really have no idea! _________________ |

| Considering the things that were possible, this is good news. Ringworm is treatable, pain in the ass to eradicate, but treatable. Poor baby Mishka - does not look happy in that cone |

| While I was away, the boyfriend actually got ringworm (no idea how or where he got it), and he didn't know for weeks after the initial "bump" on his chest what it was. None if the dogs ever got it and I know 100% he didn't bleach or go crazy cleaning. He had it for almost a month I think.
I hope you guys get this figured out so poor Mishka can get back to normal! |

Poor baby Mishka - does not look happy in that cone Oh I am so very glad it's something that is treatable compared to what it could be. He absolutely HATES the cone, no matter what kind it is. It like paralyzes him. - Sheba&Kennedy wrote:

I hope you guys get this figured out so poor Mishka can get back to normal! Ringworm is super contagious apparently. There's no telling where he could have picked it up at. I read that ACV can help so I'm going to spray everything with that to see if it helps. I can't sit here and bleach my house. I really hope so too! This has been going on for so long now I'm ready for him to be back to normal as well. _________________ |

| He's been to dog parks and such since this started, right?? Have any of your friends or other dog park goers said anything about their dogs getting ringworm??? I've heard it's really contagious too, but I thought it was strange non of the dogs developed ringworm. Not saying you shouldn't be cautious, but I guess I'm surprised neither of you have gotten yet?
I wonder if maybe its more contagious human to human?? I know during wrestling season one year in high school we had a suuuper bad breakout and they dysenfected the whole wrestling room and we washed the mats with this super crazy mixture that we had to wear gloves and those medical face mask things.
Or maybe we got lucky LOL. |

| Yeah he has been. I definitely won't be taking him now for a while. Probably not my best judgement call but being an H2M2 admin too makes it hard to NOT go to the dog park. Plus he always has such a great time. :/ Also from what I've read, dogs and cats can be carriers and not show any signs of it. With this having gone on for close to 2 months now I'm surprised I haven't developed any signs of it. I just want my poor pup to be back to normal again. _________________ |

| I had ringworm in highschool. Im 90% sure i got it from my lifting class. Nothing to serious. Just annoying. He had it on a really annoying spot, im sure it sucks for him. I just had it on my shoulder. Make sure you wash your hands really well if you touch it. |

| Results form the biopsy are back. It is NOT ringworm. So we are sending the culture off to test for lupus and/or zinc deficiency. We are going to start him on an antifungal in the meantime in case the surface of the skin is infected. Ugh so frustrating! _________________

| So it seems like this is never ending. Lol.
Original results (after the alotted time) were negative for ringworm. The next day my vet tech friend said it became positive for ringworm. So we went with that. I am currently giving him antifungal oral meds and I have some liquid that I tried spraying on his nose that is just not working (he won't let me).
Today my vet tech friend texted me to say that the lab biopsy results came back negative for any sort of immune disease (yay) but that it could be a hypersensitivity to an allergen (contact, flea, or food) and ALSO said it could be a hypersensitivity to staphylococcus. :/
SO I may have to treat it for that because while we're on day 3 of the medicine, I can't tell if it's getting any better.
Oh man you guys, this dog. _________________ |

This is why hubby calls it the ART of medicine...guess its the same for veterinary medicine. |

| The lab made notes saying that autoimmune disease in a dog his age (young) is rare.
And yeah, it's all a guessing game when you have symptoms that are common for a lot of different issues. So we might do another round of cephalexin to treat it if it's bacterial. Sigh. _________________ |

| Hm. Could you put the cone on, sneak up from behind, grab him, and spray his nose? Btw, has the vet had you try benedryl? |

| I have some benedryl I just haven't tried giving it to him. I actually still have some sedatives from his neuter...
I tried the cone thing but he ran into his crate and was still being a butthead about it. I need to try again tonight. He just seriously hates any sort of topical medicine. He's fine taking pills! Just gobbles them down. -_- _________________

| Ha ha. Brat! I was thinking benedryl to reduce the itching and inflammation, not as a sedative. FYI - it doesn't always have a sedating effect. It just wound Diz up. |
