| Hello Looked for a thread but couldn't find one. (may be a dumb question) Anyways, we pick Milo up in three weeks time and we CANNOT wait! and I was wondering if anyone had a feeding guide or routine that worked for them for a puppy at 8 weeks? I know people suggest 3 - 4 meals a day but what worked for you? Me and my partner both work different shifts he won't be on his own for any longer than 2-3 hours a day so feeding times wont be an issue. Also the kibble that he is currently being fed on is really poor (Purina Beta Puppy) and I would like to ween him off this and go on to something a little more suited for his needs. Any recommendations for this also? Hope this is all ok Thanks |

| i fed him 3 times a day until he started to self regulate at 4 months old. i fed him taste of the wild high prairie for the fist year and now he eats a combination of home made food and Dr. Tim's. Sorry I'm not mush help for the food recrimination in your area, but I'm sure some one with more info on food advice will chime in soon.

| I'm going to follow this, because I am curious about food brands. My littles were just born this week, so I have a while to go, but I certainly do not want to feed them garbage. |

| To the OP Ben.....We have had a few new members in your neck of the woods and I have suggested using Eden, excellent food and good numbers for a growing pup. 3 cups a day spread over 3 times should be more than enough. If pup has pudding poo lower the amount by an 1/8 to a 1/4 cup until poops are well formed and slightly firm. If Eden is not available let me know, and I will give you the other brand that was very good to feed, it was more expensive than the Eden, I am guessing Eden is available in Wales.
To Stefanie.....Ronin suggested TOTW puppy and that is an excellent food to start out with especially if you're on a tight budget, and I am guessing you will be since you will be bringing home 2 pups. Feeding wise see what I mentioned to the OP on amounts. Circe and Odysseus are beautiful!
Good luck to both of you! |

| Hi Ben! I figured I'd share our experience since we went through 4 foods in Klaus's first year. We went from Diamond, to Blue, to Merrick, and now to Acana. We absolutely love Acana, it's a bit pricier but we also have to feed him less of it, not sure if this is available near you. Either way it's best for you to be able to read ingredients and labels to know what is good, and I recommend a grain free food. Puppy food isn't a necessity, you could go with an all life stage food as well. Of course when you do decide to switch him to a new food make sure it is a gradual change. This is a good example of how to switch over: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?aid=99 It's awesome someone will be able to be with the puppy most of the day, sounds like you're off to a good start. 3 times a day is great. Good luck with the new pup can't wait to hear more from you! |
