| I know Liz, Ashleigh, Lucy and a few others have done some non-serious bike-joring: The other night, Wayne and I walked both Archer and Ami - surprisingly,they were enormously goal directed, full steam ahead, charge!!! Almost as if they were saying "Hey guys, we Huskies, give us something to pull..." So thinking of making a couple of scooter noodles and taking the bikes out...if they like it and we don't kill ourselves, will get the proper harnesses, whatever that may be. For starts, I'll just use their existing harness and keep it easy. My question is - did you put a lot of work into "gee, haw, hike, whoa" before hand or just go for it and hang the consequences? Both dogs know "on by" 'cause it is useful in everyday walking... I've got the walky dog but don't want to buy another for Archer and Ami is not crazy about the bike beside him (probably I should not have hooked him to the bike and then walked away 'cause I forgot to put on my gloves...he followed me ) |

| Okay, I passed on this earlier but now I can't resist - you do remember of course that bones get more fragile as we get older, don't you. | I had a reply written out last night but I obviously turned my computer off before sending it. We worked on commands while walking, better to reinforce when you can provide better corrections and guidance than when you're balancing on a bike and being pulled... (Mishka has knocked the bike down on himself plenty of times.) _________________ |

| The only advice I can give is to drop the bike seat so you can get your feet on the ground more easily. Then watch out for squirrels! |

| i thought Leo the mush commands very early on, and he had to learn to watch out for the front tire of the bike. and a low bike seat to you can touch the floor if need. when he pulls on the attachment (usually when there it a cat jetting across the street) it twists so i made one of this out of an old leash and it keeps in in place. but here's the like if you need one. http://www.thedogoutdoors.com/dog-bike-leash-power-puller-stability-strap.html i would work on the commands before you start biking just so it mush easier to stop when you need to and turn and let them which way to turn or when to turn around without running into the tire

| Thanks, guys. My seat is so I can sort of reach the ground - tippy toes, anyway. I'll check adn maybe drop an inch. I've been using gee/haw with Ami on walks but how much it really sinks in, I don't know. On by, he knows and respects for sure. If I say it soon enough. Al - I think my bones are ok - I've taken multiple, spectacular falls both wih and without Ami - the grass is really slippery when wet and the clay soil is slick. I bruise a lot but the bones are holding up. Knock on wood Probably I should start with just Ami, have Wayne go first and us follow. That should keep Ami going (he HATES being 2nd - always wants to be in front. All a moot point for the moment. Temps this week in the 80's |
