| [i]Last evening, our next door neighbor passed away at home from a heart attack. After the EMS picked him up, my wife went to the house to comfort his wife. She was there approximately 30 minutes until some family members arrived.
Juno--pictured @ left--normally sleeps on the couch in our living room at night. She never bothers us about anything as we feel she enjoys the peacefulness of the room. Last night was horrible. She jumped into bed with us at 1:00 AM and just sat there. When I asked her if she needed to go out, she jumped down and sat--looking at us. I took her outside for a long walk as she just walked along and enjoyed the cool night air. When we came in she immediately jumped into our bed and went to sleep. (she almost never sleeps with us) At 5:00 AM she woke my wife and wanted to go out. After a lengthy walk and upon returning home, Juno laid in the driveway and went to sleep.
Is it possible she detected a death next door? We were not close with our neighbors, so I don't believe there was any grief in our home she detected. This whole scenario is so strange as she has NEVER done this before.

| she may have, some animal have an extra sense and can usually tell when something is wrong. my chihuahua Joey got very mopey when some of my family members passed, and didn't want to do anything for a long time he would just lay there, go outside do his business and come back in and lay with me on the couch. |

| Mike, I think huskies are very intuitive on what their humans are feeling. Juno knew somethings wasn't right, and knew there was a change in routine, even if it was minor. There was also commotion going on next door, this is also out of the ordinary for Juno. I think all of the changes of one night made her more "excited" in her own way, which, I see it as comforting. I'm sorry to hear of your loss, even if you were not close to your neighbor. |
