Really nice pictures, Ronin I especially like the "ostrich" one, head in dirt, butt in the air!
YOu mentioned exercises for Leo's hind end - does he have problems there? Those zoomy pics, he looks fine.
well the vet had to us that he had spongy hips, there was clicking, and looseness. not sure if the clicking had to do with a possible leg muscle strain or a inflamed tendon in the hips area, the vet didn't really consider that it could be a muscle strain. he also told me never to run him, no jumping, no trotting and he might see hip issues later down the line at 6 years old. he can only free run and sort walks no longer then 20-40 minuets. even though he likes to walk for an hour sometimes . even though i have never seen any signs of hip issues, which i had always worried about. he seems to be getting better with the exercise he has much better balance when standing on 3 legs which he couldn't do very well before .
Such a cute pic how is Leo doing now? He looks good! I missed the bath pics, I need to give my two a bath...but ugh, Kohdi and his ways I have to be in a good mood, LOLOL

he is doing much better although keeping him form trying to run wail were walking is proving difficult lol. it also doesn't help that we didn't go to the dog park on the weekend it was way to muddy.

Have you thought of maybe getting a 2nd opinion on his hips? Maybe LETTING him run is different from TAKING him running as in structured running...I only ask because frequently, exercise is recommended to manage arthritic sorts of things. Just a thought.
i really want too, but i'm still looking for a reliable vet to have it done, sigh haven't found one yet. he usually want me to run/ jog behind him but not sure if its safe to do, i'm thinking he might have pulled or strained a muscle slightly. he is improving he has had a few days of random zoomies lol, running wild all over the house and out to the yard haha.
he dose have free rain in the yard minus the garden area lol, but our yard is not to big. and he really wants to play with his doggie friends at the park but the rain has kept us away. i hope this weekend is better for a much needed trip to the dog park.
The first pic and the last pic are like night and day, lol. Leo obviously had lots of fun
The Malamute, did her owner buzz her coat?
it looked like they might have, but not sure. Leo has a very fluffy coat in the winter that makes him look huger then what he is and a very very short one for the summer that when he sheds makes it look like he's going bald and losing weight lol. not sure if malamutes do that also.
Leo and the pile of dirt from last march lol, i found it. he had so much fun digging in there.
we did take Leo to get a second opinion at are old vet which was in San Jose that we use to take our ferrets to; after our husky meetup. he said hes hips look good and that the problem was not in the hips. which was a big surprise to me as to how fast he found it. we're now awaiting the call from him as soon as he gets the result come back from the specialist to make sure its that he thinks it is. i'll up date as soon as i know more.
update: the vet thinks that he might have growing pains with he toll us that can happen between 6 months - 2 years old, and it should clear up on its own, but he also gave us some pain meds if he needs them. in about a month he will be x-rayed to see if there is any change.

The "are we there yet" pic is great, he looks so happy!
So glad you got the second opinion too. Did his hip seem to bother him, Ronin? Or was it more just something the first vet noticed ? I ask because your vet gave him pain meds and am just wondering if you ever saw Leo in pain from his hip.

I'm glade too, this hip never really bothered him. the first vet just didn't like that his hips felt spongy and not as tight as he would like them to be for his age. the second vet said that hips are good and that the pain comes form welling in the bone above the knee and below it, but it well go away. apparently he's still growing , i'm guessing he will keep growing until his three. the pain meds are as needed for the welling, cause his growing still. growing pains are very painful, i had them when i was younger. I'm just relived that he will be okay.

Wow, that's interesting! I've never realized things like that happen! im really glad he will be ok too. He always looks so happy and adventurous in his pics, I'd hate to see him not being able to run and play the way he's used to being able to do.
