| I got carried away and never really noticed the "Welcome Mat" I had a quick question the other day and had to post it. I received super fast and wonderful replies (Thanks so much you guys are awesome!!) Anyway I guess since I'm a step behind I'll start here now. LoL.... I'm a huge animal lover, yet first time Husky owner. I live with my husband and our two children (a son 5yrs & daughter 3yrs) We are currently owned by a 7year mix named Dayzee and a 15mo old red-legged Yorkie named Pixie. Located in the Wild-N-Wonderful state of West Virginia. 2010 was a big year for us. We purchased our first home and our oldest started kindergarten. In the decision to expand our family we recenlty did some research and decided on getting a Husky. So far, I think we are getting ready for the adventure of a lifetime. While looking through a few local ads I came across a breeder who had a female red/white husky, but due to the "day late dollar short" standard quote, the pup was already sold and being placed with her new family the next day. (We were a little broken hearted cause she was just too darn cute.) I continued to checking and a few days later another breeder listed her dog just had pups and was taking deposits. With that said we are now the "soon to be" owners of a female red/white husky named Hachi (short for Hachiko like the Japanese Akita. Means 8 and she was the last born in a little of 8 so it fit perfectly.) She was born on Jan 14th and as of now all the pups have their eyes open. The breeder is such a joy to talk to and she seems on top of her game and always sends pics and keeps us updated. So far I haven't seen a Husky pic on this site that isn't just precious!! You all seem to be so in love with your animals and I just can not wait to join. LoL I feel like a mom on the last stage of pregancy trying to get the nursery finished and wanting to finally see the baby. LoL I just hope this next month flies by! We're suppose to drive 2 hours to pick her up the first weekend in March. Counting down the dayz!

| Welcome! I didn't chime in on the other thread because honestly I have never dealt with my own pup. Well, I've been watching a Bernese Mountain Dog since she was eight weeks. But that doesn't count because I had the luxury of having her go home every night (hee-hee).
Glad we (them) have been helpful. |

| I posted these on my other thread so why not here too! This is an update of all the pics I pretty much have for each week that the breeder has sent. (and a new one for today!!) Day she was born: 1-14 2days old-Front view: 1-16 2days old- Back View: 1-16 1wk old pic: 1-21 2wk old-Eyes open: 1-29 3wk old: 2/5 and again... I think her (and all of the other pups in the litter) look like lid'l bear cubs lol I'm really loving how the markings are changing. The bigger she gets the more it seems that she has a patch over her eye giving her a two tone face so Phantom of the Opera-ish look lol *Love it* I so can't wait!!! Just a few more weeks! (I seriously think at this point if she were male I would be naming her Phantom but she's a Hachi lol)

| Thank you Southern... as far south in WV as you can go. I live on the little border that dips into VA. Seriously if you look out our bathroom window you can see the main redlight that is on the VA side. We're one of those towns that are seperated by a state line. So you have Bluefield, WV and Bluefield, VA. I go out of state like 3 times a day lol |

| I'm excited for you and the new addition to your family!
...but I give a big 'ol suspicious side eye to the breeder who lets puppies leave their mommas before they're 8 full weeks (10 is better, 12 or more is ideal). |

| Oh Kate, less than 8 weeks was just the start of the info I uncovered AFTER the deposit was paid. I did know up front the pup was CKC because The grandsire was only CKC and even though the grand-dam was AKC you can only have CKC registration after that point so therefore with my pup the Dame was CKC and the Sire is actually AKC/CKC making my pup CKC because of the trace.
But here was the icing on the cake my pups bloodline is fine but she has 2 other females who's Sire is also their Grandsire (and they are both due with litters in April) I do give her credit for having this all listed BUT hello does no one look at this stufff?!?! The only reason why my pup has a clean blood line was the main sire she had for years passed away and she got a new male last year from another breeder. (which my pup is out of the new sires first litter)
So yes hunni more than one red flag was tossed hard into my face as the weeks progressed but we just wanted a nice healthy wonderful loving pet and so far I don't think we went wrong there. And as for a loving breeder she was great in that department but I do think she should do WAY more research.
The reason I picked her up a few days early was because I had to drive 2 hours to go get her and if I picked her up on friday i wouldn't have made it to the vet till monday which was void for the 48hr vet visit. So I ask to get her on thursday so I could take her to the vet on friday. That was the plan for weeks now. THEN... due to gas prices she decided that if she met me 30miles she wanted a gas fee (which would have been fine but she never mentioned it the whole 7 weeks when we spoke about it) Since I have a smaller car I just told her I would just drive the whole 2 1/2hours myself instead of just 2hrs and meet her in her hometown on wednesday (since she was going to take them to her vet that day and already be in town.) Which it gets better... I ended up waiting over an hour in a parking lot because when I got there I called and she said she was leaving the vet office and on her way. Well instead of respectfully meeting and I pick up the pup, she stopped at a store to get a few personal things along the way. (I was way pissed at that point cause this was within a 5mile trip for her and now over a 6 hour round trip for me!!) I had already altered my scheduled in many many ways that day and bascially felt disrespected. Also, out of the 6 she sold she has 1 left to be picked up due to their schedule and distance they can't make it until this weekend. The other 4 were picked up last weekend at 7 weeks. Which if you read my first post thats when she wanted all the pups picked up by. Then we talked about waiting closer to 8 weeks- but I assume I was the only one that felt 8 weeks was the idea choice (besdies the other one who has yet to pick their pup up. )
But it seems all I do is post about my "WONDERFUL" breeder experiences. I am truley sorry but it seems no one understands how crazy it is! But geez after all the drama that seems to find its way to me I do have a very wonderful new addition!!
Right now she does nothing but sleeps all day and won't use the restroom outside when we take her but on a side note she does use the puppy pads we have inside. I can't really complain too much cause she hasn't made a mistake yet. Mercy there is a major difference in a 3lb yorkie using a puppy pad and an 8lb pup though. LOL However, I do need to get started on housebreaking but for the first couple days I just want her to get use to her new enviroment.
