Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I am a first time Siberian Husky owner (first time large breed as well) from Las Vegas, NV. My female Siberian Husky's name is Epona and she is 1 year this month!

My boyfriend has owned 2 huskies before and talked me into this one. I'm a beagle lover myself and we had the choice of a beagle for $600 or a husky, both of which were pure bred. I owned a beagle previously and said we should probably stick to the husky because beagles are pack dogs, need lots of attention, and tend to have bad anxiety when left alone... Little did I know, Huskies are basically bigger beagles with a TON more fur. I should have researched beforehand, but I love my Sibe and am learning so much. I'm glad I found this forum because I have a lot of funny stories to tell and a lot of questions to ask. (:


Also, an interesting fact: My husky's mom was the really red type (which I love the most) and her dad was the typical dark black and white... she came out brown though. Interesting to me.

Chances are that your husky will be far quieter than a beagle. I too grew up with beagles and hunting dogs in general. Currently my in-laws have 3 beagles and I do not miss the noisiness of them at all. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forums! You live in the one place I've always wanted to visit but never seem to get the chance. Epona is also the name of a Celtic goddess! Lovely name for a lovely doggy.

Oh gosh beagles. My dad is obsessed with them haha. So much dog packed in a small container!

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. When I started looking for a dog I wanted an akita because they are my favorite breed. My fiance however loved huskies so when I came across loki and he got excited (which never happens about anything other than video games) we got him. Now I can't imagine life without him and if someone offered to trade an akita for him I would tell them where to shove it lol.
