| I love both Highlander and Karnovanda. Those were my top choices when I was looking for a breeder. I ultimately went with Karnovanda simply because they had a litter planned a few months later and Highlander didn't. I now have two Karnovanda pups and both are great dogs! I will say that Judy from Karnovanda is a bit old-fashioned and opens up more on the phone than in emails |

| The first concern I had viewing that website was the dogs with glaring faults on their main page. No listing of health testing on their dogs, more dogs with poor structure and poor breed type, and only one dog they have listed as accomplishing any sort of title....I'm sure hey are nice, but I wonder how reputable they are |

| They have one dog they have pedigree and OFA results on that is CH pointed but lists nothing else.
I would honestly stay away. People can be nice but they aren't always breeding their dogs for the right reasons. _________________ |

| i got Leo form silvermoon's arctic spirit Siberians in MI. she has a small kennel, she has restarted anew with her breeding program  and has a few litter a year i think about 3 a year. she has the CERF & OFA results posted on her site and parentage of most of the dogs, and has begun showing them again. http://silvermoonsiberians.jimdo.com/ |

| It's easy to say "health records" but they should not be a secret until you get your puppy. These should be public record, searchable by registered name, linked, or copied to the page |

| Anyone can get their dog's hips and eyes checked or say they have. I just find it off they do not offer any registration #s on their sites nor actual registered names or ways to find the OFFA results. As Lani pointed out their dogs have obvious structural faults. The red dog on their main page has a faulty tail. I'm not as keen on noticing the faults past bad tails or pasterns. I'm not sure how we're making this confusing? We gave you input on several great breeders that you posted about earlier. You have to understand that some of these people are busy, won't respond back immediately, are old school and seem a bit blunt. But once you get to know them they hold a great wealth of knowledge. Some of these breeders know how to talk the talk and make it seem like they are doing things for the right reasons when they really aren't. _________________ |

| i heard that some people are trying to scam breeders by saying they want a puppy and paperwork gets sent before the pup gets home and then they say they no longer want the pup, but take the ack registration number to make fake registration for unregistered dogs. that might be why they might not post the numbers any more but are still searchable though the registered name. |

| I'm not referring to registration numbers. I'm referring to the health certification numbers from OFA, SHOR and/or CAER
I don't often self promote, but look at my website for example-

| Personally I feel if people are looking at my dogs they should be able to see our dogs (quality photos) and if they are dogs we have considered or have used in breeding it is important to have those health clearances to easily refer to as well as links to the pedigree. You never know who may be looking at your site and for what. Maybe they are interested in your dog and want to see how the pedigree lines up or are considering a puppy purchase and want to know the parents have been health tested. By linking to the OFA's site it's not something someone else can use as their own- |

Some of these breeders know how to talk the talk and make it seem like they are doing things for the right reasons when they really aren't. I did not mean you guys are confusing me I meant in general breeders and how to find one that is good is very confusing since I have literally no experience in finding a breeder. Thank you for the input really its very helpful. I understand they are busy, and I am not saying highlander ect are not good breeders because they haven't replied, I am posting about others breeders because I live in Canada You have to understand that I would rather get a dog in my own country then go to the U.S. Exactly I am posting here because I have no idea how to tell if a breeder can "Talk the talk" and make me think they are good when they aren't that's why I am using this site so I can be helped in my search for a future dog. As always thank you all for the advice its very helpful for me since as I said I have no experience and I want to make a good choice. |
