| Hello. My name is Emily. I'm mom to Blues and Lyric both great danes, Preston a yorki cross. My boyfriend has a corgi named Dori. A couple of months ago we came across a dog near a cemetery, we tries to no avail to find its owner. This week we officially adopted Lykaios. We believe he may be a wooly husky. We would love your input on what you think he may be. Mostly black with a white under. He does carry he tail over his back. He is 54# and very light on his feet. I've seen him jump 4 foot obstacles effortlessly. His best friend is my 1 year old Dane, they play endless hours.
I'm currently on a phone, can someone help me figure out how to post his picture?
Thank you!

| Your dog in your avatar is gorgeous! Thank you for the link. When I am posting on my phone, I don't have any icons. I'm guessing I will need a computer. I'll try to add some after work! |

| Ok - I can give you icon less instructions: Go to servimg.com Set up an account. Upload photo. Choose 640 pixel width. When photo is uploaded, there will be a page of 3 sets of links. Choose the 2nd link of the 2nd set (the middles ones) Copy it and paste it into your post. That's it (and that's how I do it.) Good luck. EDIT: And, thank you - we like him |

| Thank you! Any advice for coat care? He's a champ on letting us brush him, but his coat is looking a little battered at this point. I've been adding in some coconut oil to his food and a small bit of fish daily. Brushing with a rake 3-4/week. Desperately waiting for the groomer to get off of a month long vacation! |

| Ratty? Bet he's blowing his undercoat. Tis the season... Ami just started. He'll look like a moth eaten rug for a month or two. Rake or brush him daily (or more ), don't let it get matted. You can also just gently tug on the tufts of hair as they appear. A swiffer comes in handy! Some people here say a bath helps loosen the undercoat. But, MUST be brushed after bath or will tangle, tighten and mat. Brushing before hand is optional, brushing after is mandatory. I've yet to be able to groom Ami for more than 5 minutes at a time, so he gets spot baths as needed, so cannot say first hand how this works. The area to watch out for are just behind the ears, the leg feathers and the tail, in my experience. If you detangle those daily, you won't have a massive trim job waiting for you. When these guys get wet, they STAY wet. After a heavy rain, it can take Ami a couple of days to get thoroughly dry (but then, his coat is all soft and sweet smelling Nothing on the market duplicates rain water for softening) Good luck and feel free to ask any questions. Lots of info and hints in this group. |

| I second that, definitely wolly husky. I think they call it agouti or dirty faced huskies. Both the agouti gene and the wolly gene are rare so it's interesting to see both of them at the same time! Very handsome boy! |

| What makes you all think he's a wooly Husky, just because he's got a lot of hair don't make him no wooly .... (( I lie!! )) Beautiful picture of one very handsome dog.
Welcome to the forum with all your family, two and four footed - and we're not "dogist" you can put up pictures of the rest of the crew as well. I see you also have the same type gate I do, while I know Avalanche could clear it if he really wanted to, he respects it, even if he does want on the other side when the cat's over there. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

He will lay patient for brushing until then, at about 5 minutes he gets up and walks off. His hind quarters and tail seem to be the worst spots so far, he is definitely not a fan of tail brushing. He's Just finished a couple of hour romp with Lyric, his head is completely wet and covered with dane drool... about time for the nightly groom! Is there a shampoo you recommend? I only have a whitening shampoo currently, not sure that is what he will be needing Thanks |

| Oh you've opened the flood gates, I love showing off my dogs! My danes are my pride and joy. I'm known locally for dane rescue, all that enter here are abuse/neglect cases. a few stay on as residents. Blues was taken in by animal control for living in a too small of a crate in a yard, no rear musculature, couldn't walk correctly, run or jump (now CGC, TDI) and tinkers with agility and rally. Not as much agility any more as he has had 2 peripheral nerve sheath tumors removed from his sciatic nerve and is post radiation. He's been with me for 4 years. Lyric has been with me for 9 months, she too was neglect, sharing a crate with a toy poodle. Crate was too small that she couldn't stand. She came to me at 9 months, had never been on a leash before. Still working on her training, though making strong improvements now that we have her hormones under control! Preston has been with me 10 long years. He is an angry little man! He hunts rabbits 3/4 his size (and wins) and takes on the danes daily. the barriers are so that I can separate him out as he doesn't know when to back down. Dori is 5, she is my boyfriend's dog, and has had a good life First group walk! |

| Oh, thank you for being a rescuer! We need more of those, 'course if what I'm seeing is right all of us who have Husky's would have 7 - 8 (or more) just to clean out the pounds! Wait a minute, aren't you missing someone on that group walk - a little shaggy bundle of fur?? I could picture adding him<?> to that crowd, he'd be walking under everyone and getting leashes all tangled, yeh, you'd have loads of fun there. Actually I'm surprised that they're all walking as nicely as they are, you must do really good work with them! Just out of curiosity, how tall does the big boy reach when he's standing up?? Bet he's looking down on most people!! Intimidation!! You're going to have to start talking to Jimmy ( @Artic_Wind ) about your plants, you've got some nice one in the pictures! What's that (out of focus) brilliant red in the top picture?? _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Ah Preston no longer walks with us. His knees and back gave out a couple of years ago. I used to walk my other dane (Jazz, lost her a year ago) and Blues with him in the parks. We never got too far as we stopped for pictures every few feet. Blues is 38 at the withers and we'll over 7 standing, he's a big boy. I've actually only seen him stand once and he towers over my 6' fence. The red bush, I'm not sure of, the local park provided it Thanks for the nice compliments, my heart is in rescue. |

| If the picture was taken in fall and you live in an area whee where leaves turn color, it may be a eponymous league, aka burning bush.
Great pics of a wonderful pack! |
