I am so excited and a wee bit nervous, but mostly excited. If I choose a puppy from this litter, I will bring him/her home on Labor day weekend. Pups were born 1 week and two days ago. Any tips for the 8 hour car ride home?

Hi there! I legitmately asked this same question last night! Picking up Puppy! I am also going to be travelling for 8 hours to pick up my puppy. Definetly nerve wracking!

Cheers!

Cleaning supplies. A few old towels paper towels something you could spray out your car with and a few plastic bags.

You know what they say better to have it incase you need it than to need it and not have it.

I had what turned into 12 hours of traveling with a two hour break in the middle with my pup. He slept the whole way wouldn't eat or drink and only peed 3 times. The only eventful thing I had to deal with was on a rest stop when I wasn't paying attention he crawled under my car. He was on leash so I could get him out but he got some oil on his fur that I had to wash out.

A small travel crate, even if you end up not using it, it's good to have along. Paper towels, towels, pee pads would be great (I got peed on by my little girl and I slipped the pee pad under me to prevent the pee from going down onto the seat) water, a small water bowl (the dish that's in the crate works well too) small toy. Out of all the things I mentioned, I only ended up using the water/water bowl and a pee pad, haha, but it's all good to have along just in case. My trip was 9-10 hours but only 5 hours of it was with my puppy. As I mentioned, I was peed on by my lil girl but I think had I made sure she peed before we left, it wouldn't have happened...she had peed on me only 30 minutes into the trip, so if possible, try to see if the puppy will pee for you before you leave. My little boy made the entire 5 hours with only one stop along the way.
