Can it still spread? Empty
PostSubject: Can it still spread?    Can it still spread? EmptyFri Jun 05, 2015 12:16 am

About two weeks ago I went to the park with my boy as usual..we saw this lab and we went up to say hi to him. He was a 3 month old lab. Mylo and the lab played for a little bit then we headed our ways. Well fast forward to this morning…while I was at the store, I saw the owner of that lab pup so I went up to him and asked how has his pup been and sadly he said he lost him to parvo..Sad immediately I felt a little guilt pale I know what it is to go through that parvo stuff…Mylo made it through when he got it at 8 weeks shortly after getting him. I know it's already been months since my boy overcame and survived parvo but..is it even possible that maybe that stuff was still in Mylo and passed it on to that little lab?? The owner said his pup got really sick two days after that day at the park. Mylo was 6 months at the time he played with that 3 month old lab pup. I had to post this here because my girlfriend is concerned if there's even a possibility of this having something to do with our Mylo.

I don't think so. Parvo is transmitted through contact with a infected animals feces, and although the virus can live I think up to a year on surfaces, like lets say an infected dog poops in an area, the virus can live there long after the poop is gone. The Lab was 3 months...I think the parvo boosters are given in 4 week intervals starting at 8 weeks (Im not totally positive of these facts but you can probably look it up) so I dont think the Lab was finished with all his boosters. And he was at a dog park...not a good place to be for him. I dont believe Mylo infected  this Lab puppy.  Its my opinion though, maybe someone with more knowledge on the subject will chime in.

Im editing here...I just did a qwik search and it takes 3-7 days after contact, for a puppy to begin showing illness. The Lab puppy got sick only 2 days after meeting Mylo. Also said that most dogs contract it through smelling or ingesting an infected dogs feces, but other ways include house flies and dragging it in on your shoes.

Yeah those were exactly my thoughts on why it couldn't have been anything to do with Mylo. Who knows where else that pup was before and after that day at the park. I just needed to post this here so my girlfriend saw some other peoples opinion in this.
