I know huskies coats change so much as they grow, and I would really like to know what color this husky is going to be when he's older before I purchase him.

Anyone have any ideas?

He's listed as 'sable'


Will his nose stay spotted like that?

I would appreciate any educated guesses. Thanks

In my profile pic, I have my dog (B&W) and his brother (sable). The brother looked almost exactly like this one as an infant, but with more mask. However, their other brother did, too, and now looks more like a blue, so...take it as you will.

He looks like Piebold. Whether he will be darker or lighter is anyone's guess at this point.

I definitely think he's a splash coat not a piebald. I just wish I new if he would get darker or lighter. I don't really want an all white dog.

How reliable is the breeder? If the breeder is reputable, then he/she should have a very strong idea of the color. If the pup is listed as a sable, then he's going to get darker rather than lighter.

Hailey in my signature is a sable.

If you're getting the pup from a BYB or someone less than reputable, there's really no way to tell.

Spotted or blotched, usually black and white coat.

"Technically" it just depends on who you talk to/matter of opinion.

Piebald is specking - they are more than 50% white with flecks of other colors

Splash is a coat pattern, not color like Piebald. Splashes will still have white on them but they'll have the "blanket" on their back where as piebald will have the spotting of color usually.

Definitely splash coat, and I doubt his nose will stay like that. My girl Zoey is listed as Sable and White on her papers, her coat changes a lot, but I think she's a light red and definitely not sable.

She definitely looks like a light red to me as well. Beautiful girl!

Gonna be a red and white, she'll darken with each coat change.

By the by, a breeder who has 6 litters within one month or even within a year, is probably mainly in it for the money. Just saying.

Yes, I thought the numbers were high myself. I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and meet with all the adult dogs this weekend. I'm definitely not just going to hand my money over to someone who doesn't care about the breed and pumps out sick dogs for profit.

I just don't want anyone to make the same mistake I did. I LOVE Siku, but her breeder just churns out puppies like crazy. She sounded like she really loves her dogs which I'm sure she does, but when Siku got sick two days after getting her (she was so full of worms she was throwing them up!), she suddenly didn't seem to care about poor little Siku anymore and acted a bit mad at me for even contacting her about it.

Sounds like what happened with my Sura. Once we dewormed her ourselves we realized we didn't pick the docile puppy of the litter like we thought, just the sickest one. She was such a ball of energy after the worms came out!

She's an amazing dog and I'm glad I got her too, but I hate that I aided a backyard breeder by purchasing her. I'll definitely be more cautious this time around. (I'm bringing a checklist and list of questions for her at the meet and greet.)

I might even just adopt an adult from the pound! Just looking for the perfect companion for myself and my Sura.

Ahhh! I just wrote up a long post and there was an error and it all got erased! Pretty much I wrote about the 3 nice huskies my mom took in her rescue and found good homes for to show that there are some really nice dogs in rescue. Just keep a look out at shelters and local rescues and you should be able to find a nice husky.
