So I've decided to make the switch from totw to a local food made here in Torrance, CA. I cannot find anything about it on dogfoodadvisor or anything, so I took pictures of ingredients and was wondering if you think they are good in comparison

It's sold inn Southern California by Centinela Feed & Supplies who also sell several other brands. I have no idea about the manufacturer.

You might want to look further in that direction.

I know haha that's where I bought it but they don't have any information about this food like id like to see a breakdown of the ingredients I guess.

Edit: The guy who was working there said that welcome home is made by the same people who make Fromm. Not sure if he's 100% right.

Jane, I couldn't find much on this food. I do not see where they are associated with Fromm. The thing I know about Fromm, made in Wisconsin. Other companies associated with Fromm will say made in manufacturing center of Fromm in Wisconsin. I do not think this is made by/with Fromm.

Ingredients are ok, but very little meat. The protein level of the food is a little low, and more importantly only whitefish is used for their meat based protein. The rest of the protein is made up of fish meal and peas. Now if you are wanting to feed a vegie based food for your dogs, I guess this would be a good route, although not real sure where this is made, and sourced. Imho, very little meat, vegie based food. Others may see it differently, but honestly I wouldn't feed it, unless my dog was extremely allergic to all meat, but white fish, and then I probably would think about finding something else. I'm sorry if I am a thumbs down on this brand.

Here is another article to read, and mentions how protein based "meals" are not real good for your dog. Your protein source in kibble should be read as "venison" "turkey" "chicken" "beef", etc. not fish meal, turkey meal.

I find it very daunting as a pet owner to find excellent quality kibble. A few that I would say are great are Fromm, Merrick, Orijen, there's a few others and I am sure others can mention what they feel is high quality, I could give a more extensive list but those are some good examples. Reading the package can get exhausting. What I have done over time is just read, read a lot, read what others think, then tackle the project with the info that I obtain and weed out some of the fluff, because let's face it, everyone is out there touting there own horn to make you buy theirs and forget the rest as crap. Dog food advisor can be misleading as well, so I just weed everything out. For example the tomato pomace, imho, shouldn't be so high up the food list as this particular brand has it. at dogfoodadvisor it will explain why it shouldn't be that high up.

So to reiterate, protein is vegie based protein and at 25% kind of low need to look closer to 30%, and also the fat content is low also at 14%, need to look for closer to the 18-20%. I hope I helped rather than discourage you.

It did help, not discouraging at all honestly I'm trying this food because of Memphis having some skin issue he seems to be allergic to something I totw so I am going with something else to see if this helps at all, Miya was starting to get a rash like thing on her mouth too its not very noticeable but Memphis is constantly scratching and it was when I bought a new bag of totw he started to lose some hair around his mouth like a rash of some sort. If the new food doesn't help off to the vet we go. Looking at it, yeah it does have alot of veggie based protein hmm I do add meat to their diet, but I wont be here in a couple months (moving) so ill have to change their food to what they sell in that area when I go.

The protein is a little low because its honestly very had to be feeding two different breeds who needs different thing especially since Memphis is still growing, so I add more protein to Miya food and it helps I think lol. ugh thanks for chiming in Renee

I really hate not being able to find out about a pet food so I did a little digging.

A quick call to one of the stores in California resulted in a sales associate telling me that "Welcome Home" dog food is a store brand, manufactured by them.  Okay, that's all well and good sorta, I couldn't find any manufacturing facility associated with Centinela till .... walla, it seems as if "Lotus Pet Foods" is the manufacturing group for Centinela.

I think what bothers me most about this is, like most pet food companies, there is really no statement on the "Centinela " stores web site that Welcome Home is anything other than one of several brands they carry, nor on the LotusPetFood site is there any indication that Welcome Home is other than one of several dog foods that they manufacture.

In other words, they are being typical in their lack of "transparency".

I realize that this has virtually nothing to do with the original question but "who manufactures what" has become a bit of an interest to me.

Lol thanks for trying Al I sent the information to dog food advisor and they couldn't find anything on it either so I sent them the ingredients so hopefully they put up an review soon. Be interesting to see what they say about it. Centinela should really have more information out there for people like me and you who want to know pretty much everything about it lol
