| The time has come...now that school is about to be over with, my girlfriend and I will have complete free time to stay on lock with Mylo during his recovery season. We are nervous of course...he's scheduled to get cryptorchidism surgery and neutering done this upcoming Monday the 18th. He will also be getting micro chipped. We will drop him off at 8am and will be picked up close to closing time (4-5pm). I have made this thread dedicated to this whole process.

| Good luck! I remember how nervous I was with Bode's neuter, and that was just a straight up, two ball neuter. lol. I don't know how much more invasive the cryptochidism surgery is, but I'm sure Mylo will sail through. Bode had a super easy recovery from his neuter, he didn't even need the cone of shame. |

| Good luck Mylo!
Easier said than done but try not to be too nervous, vets have a lot of experience with this stuff. Kohdi just had a basic neuter and was pretty out of it the first day but after that he was his normal self and he too didn't need the cone of shame. They recover quickly but still try to make him take it easy for a couple weeks or so. That part is easier said than done too, haha |

| Thanks for the support! And him having two procedures done makes it double nervousness.. I do have him scheduled for a bath this Friday..should I still take him for his bath or skip it since he's gonna be getting surgery? (I scheduled the bath a week ago before I decided on what's happening now) I hope my boy recovers fast! And I'm certain he will have the cone of shame :/ |

| Hmmm, the bath. Mylo won't be able to have a bath for a little while after the surgery so it might make sense to get one before, but I'm not sure it's good advice, maybe someone who knows more about it will answer. If it were me and my dogs, I'd just wait til all was said and done for the bath. But that's me, haha. I think all dogs get the cone of shame, it's keeping one on that's a PITA with Kohdi, he just didn't need to wear one, he left the incision alone. I know when they are coming out of the (I know I'm going to spell this wrong, lol) anesthesia, they automatically keep trying to clean, or lick the area, but I just told him " ah ah" each time and he left it alone...after the first full day, any dog I've had just left it alone pretty much. Oh cool, anesthesia was spelled correctly! Sometimes I like this auto correct thing, haha |

| Yeah I'm just wondering if these procedures make dogs smelly or something to where the bath before hand would be a waste haha it's cause I've been wanting to get him a bath. I just realized that his belly will be have to be shaved right?? Awwwwwwww mylo he's gonna look naked lol It will be interesting seeing how Mylo takes the cone.. |

| Personally, I'd wait with the bath.
Yup, shaved, LOL. It's weird, with Kohdi I don't remember him looking funny or anything when he got shaved, and he's my fluffball, haha...but Mishka, it was noticeable! she's always been pretty small and when they shaved her she looked higher off the ground, LOLOL |

| Mylo will look higher off the ground too lol He recently got cleared of fleas and we wanted to clean up the flea dirt he has.. I think were still gonna go through with the bath this Friday since it's probably gonna be a while until he's good for a bath after the procedure season, like you said. |

| Just dropped off my boy at the vet for his procedures…yes I got watery eyed as I saw him walking away with the vet. For the record, I've never had a family member or loved one in my life go through any kind of surgery...Mylo is the first for me. I never imagined me loving a pup so much until my girlfriend and I got Mylo. I know he will be fine but theres that nervous feeling and how he's gonna be when we pick him up later. We're gonna go get him a comfortable cone of shame just in case he has to have it on for a while. Here he is waiting to be called in See ya at 4:30, buddy. |

| David, we were the exact same way with Bode on his surgery day. I was a nervous wreck all day. Mylo will be a champ! |

| OMG I got teary eyed just looking at Mylo's "waiting pic and then reading your eyes watered. I remember the feeling so well with Kohdi. I almost lost it when the assistant took him from me and I was leaving and heard a commotion and look back and here comes Kohdi dragging the assistant behind her. But dude, don't stress, Mylo will do great, right now he's having a really great sleep when he wakes up you will be there like you never left |

| I hope so guys! My girl couldn't get herself to come with me to drop him off but we will both be there to pick him up. We just realized something though...we stopped crating him a long time ago already...he's too big for te crate he had...so how is he suppose to get on the car? (I have a hatchback). I figure he's gonna be too fragile to pick up but I just thought of something...I'll take his bed along and put it on the floor and then me and my girl pick up the bed with him on it and we slide it in the car. Were about to go look for a nice comfortable cone for Mylo. |

| Eh, I picked up bode to put him in the car afterwards. He'll probably still be pretty out of it and won't mind. |

I even took video of him walking away with the assistant! It's shaky but I had to record that to show my girl! |

| David, the last couple of dogs I had neutered (females, bur at this it's about the same) walked out to the car, they got there, looked at me, looked at the Jeep and I could just see the "No way, dad ..."
Just a note, I don't know how you pick him up but the safest way I've found (drugged or not) is to put one arm under their chest and the other one under their rump, hold him toward your chest and lift. Be aware though that due to the sedative used his bowels may be a bit loose (yeh, I found out the hard way!)
Though I like the idea of having his bed with you, for his comfort on the way, but it's probably not the best way to lift him into you car. If he's uncomfortable and wiggles you might lose it. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Maybe someone from the vet can help me out? I guess it depends how he will be when we see him but I know for sure I don't want him to jump in like he usually does. I will still put the bed in (it's huge and comfy)...and yeah I realize the possibilities of doing the bed lift technique.. I'll see how the situation is. Im getting him a Comfy Cone, hopefully the medium one is a good fit. |

| Well, David, how'd everything go?? By the time you see this you should be home from the vet's with a really groggy dog ... almost laughing but I also realize how scary it can be for the first time around - it gets easier after the first couple, never worry free, just easier! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| For what it's worth - after my female, Sasha, was spayed back in the 70's, she was supposed to stay overnight. She broke out of her cage - their most secure, dove through the storm glass door, walked home over 3 miles (or more, can't remember the details) and was waiting for me by the door when I got home that night...she was fine. Everyone else, especially the vets office, felt the need for a zanax. They didn't charge me for the damage to property. |

| Everything has been done, he wasnt as bad as I expected and he didnt come with a cone but good thing we were prepared with one although I think its a bit short. Here he is! I carried him on the car but he did not want to get up to carry him out but we lifted the entire bed out and he was good and didnt move at all. He's been asleep. And about to register his micro chip stuff. Here he is in the car At the house |

| Good to hear everything went well and Mr. Mylo is back home again. Poor baby - he looks so forlorn Just a heads up - Archer was neutered the day before he made his trip north to Josh. He was full of the ol' scratch by the time Josh brough him home. Keeping him quiet was next to impossible. |
