| So some people may know from the hijack that we are looking to add a second crazy husky to our family. We've considered adopting a young adult, but having our cat makes that nearly impossible. There have been some huskies I've come across for adoption that I would snap up in a heartbeat but they are not cat friendly. So that leaves us going the puppy route again (which terrifies me).
We did not get Bode from the best breeder. They were definitely on the "good" end of BYBs, but I will admit it was wrong. I wouldn't change it for the world as they did a great job with the puppies and Bode came to us already started training and socializing and I think that's why he was such a good puppy. But we want to do it right this time.
Megan put me in touch with a breeder in NJ, Ninkasi Siberians, who was expecting a large litter and the breeder and I had a great phone call. They show and sled their dogs. The pups were born March 1. We may or may not get a pup from this litter, just depends on how it all falls. We definitely want a boy and there's only 2, one is definitely spoken for.
If that doesn't happen though, she does have a second litter coming this year. She normally doesn't do this, they don't do many litters, but the female will be 7 next year and she wanted to get another litter from her before retiring her from breeding. Her last litter produced a couple fantastic dogs so she wants to see if that success can be repeated.
It's not ideal timing for us still being in the apartment, but we have been putting it off for various reasons and figure there is no such thing as an ideal time. We want to get a second before Bode gets too much older.
So we will see =) I'll try to post some pictures when I get a chance.

| Sara, we are in the same boat. Although Miya is from a byb, also on the better end (I guess opinions may vary with that statement), we also want to get our next from a quality breeder. Not an easy task. We also have a cat, and although frightening, we too decided another puppy would be better to train to respect a cat. I took a look at Ninkasi's you tube videos, and man they have some beautiful dogs. Some traditional and some very unique ones. So curious, were you looking for a specific eye and/or coat color? Or you don't care as long as he's from a quality breeder? Are you thinking of showing and/or racing? Whatever you decide, I can not wait to see pics.......Good luck and I hope you continue this thread with updates. |

| Since we have a red already, I'd like to diversify a bit but personality fit is much more important for us. Plus we definitely want a boy. This litter is 5 greys and 1 red. There are two boys, one grey one red. If the red is the available male though, we wouldn't turn him down just because he's red. Not looking to get into showing. Maybe racing down the road, but more just recreational stuff like skijoring. She is actually planning a dedicated racing breeding next year. It's too bad that she doesn't have a webpage so that everyone can see photos. She just has all her albums on her personal FB page, so I'm a little wary to share photos without her permission. Here is just a little collage of the parents that we may be getting a pup from (red is mom, black is dad):

| Yeah, they are hoping that this breeding results in Mom's structure and Dad's "flashiness".
The mom actually came from another big show kennel that disbanded due to personal stuff and no one wanted to take her (Goldie) because she isn't a traditionally pretty Sibe, but has wonderful structure and temperament. So this breeder took her and said she's been such a great fit. |

| Me too Jenny. Even if we don't get one from this litter, we will be at the top of the list for Stella's litter later in the year. |

| I love that they are so involved with sledding and Romil is probably one of the nicest most down to earth people I've met at a dog show. They will definitely be there for you for the long haul. Congrats on the potential puppy. The video they posted yesterday was SO cute! |

| So it just really hit me that next week we may know if we are getting a puppy. Next weekend is their 8 week evaluations and decisions will be made then about who is going where.
Also, the second litter is 10 days from the due date and xray is planned next week for puppy count.
Holy crap. We may have a puppy this summer. Crazy.
Laura is great about posting pictures and videos and I'm just about dying of cuteness overload. It makes me a little sad that due to logistics the pup we get will be past the ball of cuteness stage since depending on which litter is ends up being, they will be 4-6 months. But that's ok. Also past the really hard 8 week old stuff. |

| Seriously Sara, I thought back to Kohdi and Mishkas first two months with me and although there is some husky cuteness going on, there's also a lot of sleeping and pooping |

| We got Bode at around 11 weeks and I feel like we just breezed through puppyhood, so I don't have a very good remembrance of it! |

| Well, doesn't look like this litter is going to have a pet home for us. And her second one coming they found out is only going to be 2 pups probably. Guess we are starting to explore other options This sucks. I get why people go to BYBs...I'm not saying we will, but we always tell people to be patient and wait for an ethical breeder. But damn, it's hard! |

| Maybe you could try reaching out to Shawna Garrettson in Oregon (Link's breeder). I know Link's littermate, Brody, just sired a litter. Also try Jess Moore with Jalerrean, and finally Megan Graham Terella with Snoebear. All have litters on the ground right now. |
