Question regarding new puppy introduction Empty
PostSubject: Question regarding new puppy introduction   Question regarding new puppy introduction EmptyTue Apr 21, 2015 12:44 am

We are looking at a Siberian Husky adoption. Right now, we have an almost 10 week old Doberman Pinscher female puppy. She is still teething and potty training. We will get the husky after the 15th of May. We have an option to pick between both males and females. Our puppy's name is Lilu. Lilu was born on the 10th of february, 2015 and we got her from her breeder. The Huskies were born on March 3 so Lilu is 3 weeks older to be exact.

My question is:

Is it better to get a male or a female?

We will get both puppies neutered/spayed.

Thanks a lot.

I have always preferred to have one of each since much of the time the personalities are a better balance. At least in the breeds that I've owned. Two puppies at the same time, no matter the gender, are going to be tough and you are going to have to make sure that they both get their individual training and time to insure that they develop their independence.

I would look at the personality of your current dog and then observe the personalities of the puppies you are going to see and chose one that would be a good balance to your current pup and not worry as much on gender. Two females can get along just as well as a male and a female, or even two males, as long as they are raised properly. If you don't have a specific preference then I would seek the personality that best compliments your lifestyle, expectations, and your other dog.
