| Mavi was house trained at about 10 weeks and every since always rings his poochie bells when he wants to go outside. He is just over 4 months now and up until a few days ago, only had a handful of accidents. Yesterday, he started peeing on the entryway rug for seemingly absolutely no reason... He had just been outside 10 minutes previously and did not ring his bells to go back out. Today, he has peed twice, both times after having plenty of opportunity to go outside and for seemingly no reason. We are pet sitting for a friend's dog who was over when the 2nd two incidents occurred, but they get along great and weren't rough housing at the time of the accidents.
What gives? Is this normal for a puppy to regress on his house training? Is there a specific reason he could be doing it? I thought it could have been for attention yesterday, but now that he has a play buddy I don't think that's it. It should also be noted that two of these occurred next to the entry rug and one next to the couch, but each time I cleaned with an enzymatic cleaner. |

| I think you have the right of it - after all, even at 4 months, he's still a puppy and excitement is a cause of forgetting a lot of things.
Depending on how long you're going to be pet setting, it might be worthwhile to go back to "Potty training 101" until the guest leaves. When that happens, I'd be willing to bet that everything goes back to normal. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Thanks Al Jones, you were right... seems like it was just the excitement of a new friend.... Almost another month with no accidents. |

| The bell by the door is a great thing, Niki caught on fast. Sometimes if I don't jump up fast enough she will come into the living room and give me the " look "....LOL. Just bring your pup to the door and make a big deal about ringing the bell everytime you go out for potty. Before you know it your dog will be banging the bell with her nose when she needs to go, remember to praise her with a big " good girl " or boy for doing this. |
