Ginger had what the vet called " I have never seen anything like this before!" Abnormality. She had two permanent canine teeth attempting to grown into one spot in two different directions. One was growing down like normal the other curved upwards toward the root of the first tooth. Needless to say she was in pain and with all the pressure surrounding the teeth she developed and abcess and needed surgery for removal. She successfully had the removal procedure and is doing well however the vet said she will not have a permanent canine tooth in that one spot. Has anyone experienced that before? It was a new one for us and apparently our vet too!

I think it happens with some puppies. Ichigo had it with his canines around 4-5 months. Baby wasn't falling out and permanent was coming in. Luckily for him, the baby did fall out within a few days. Otherwise, as I understand by 6-7 months he would have required surgery. I called the vet and they said keep an eye on it. Can't remember the specific name they had for it, but they were familiar with it.

My boy went through the same thing with his right side k9 tooth at around 4 months old. I was freaking out but then the baby one fell after a few days, and I cought it hehe

Her baby tooth started to get infected from the abscess caused by the two other teeth the doc gave her antibiotics and we waited for it to fall before her surgery to remove the other two teeth. Sweet girl had all three teeth in the same area for some time. I have noticed since her procedure she has been rubbing that side of her mouth. Doc said its pretty normal and it may just be sensitive it all depends on the dog.
