So I discovered this new dog/cat store "Kriser's Natural Pet".
It's an awesome store that only sells premium stuff. I love it, no need to go to petco/petsmart ever again.
Anyway, I saw this flea/tick product that caught my attention for being organic and chewable. While it seems safe to try, have any of you ever heard of this product? The company is K9 Granola Factory. They are bone shaped chews.

I have not heard of them. The chewables is the only one I'm not really sure about. I've heard garlic is a good deterrent but know nothing about brewer's yeast. Now the spray ingredients I know a little more about and I actively use oils on my dogs separately to ward off pests. I've had good luck with oils when it comes to ticks. Fleas are a little harder case. I will be interested to see how things progress as you put these products through their paces.

Oh, this looks like a good place for a argue ... uh, for a debate.  Whether garlic is safe to feed dogs is still an open debate.  According to this web site it seems as if there are as many sites which are "pro garlic" as there are "anti garlic".  As they state:

Whether garlic or an extract can in act as a flea preventative is open to debate and is sufficient concentration to perform that function going to be safe is one argument that I'd avoid.
At the price they're asking for it, I'd prefer to stick to the chemicals applied outside the body that do seem to do the job.

As for the second item, it's list of active ingredients:

Indeed does give plenty of reason for your boy to smell good, but I see little there that should deter fleas.  And you do realize that you're paying for 93% water in that bottle, you could buy the ingredients yourself and mix it for a lot less.

One thing I do question here is that you're using two different product to attempt to find a solution - when all is said and done how will you know if either worked or if it was a combination or ... Oh, I find mixing two remedies a potential problem for the health of the dog as well.

I am not, by any stretch, against good, proven, reliable holistic remedies ... but I want to be able to find reliable, scientific evidence not simply anecdotal "evidence" that something does what it claims to do.

You'd be far better (and cheaper) off giving your dog a small amount of garlic routinely and applying your own essential oils to the collar as needed. These products probably work well enough but really aren't worth buying if you can just do it yourself. My dogs get garlic 3 times a week added to their food as a pest preventative. Garlic also serves a dual purpose for my sibe as it also helps with his arthritis along with his other supplements.

Well I'm not mixing them yet I was just wondering if anyone here has ever tried to give their pup something like the chewable stuff. I've only been trying the spray for now but it's to early to tell if it's working or not. Yeah I didn't realize it was 93% water at the time haha
It's just that I once had a bad experience with the chemical topical stuff (or maybe just coincidence) that I want to try other things. I hate discovering flea dirt on my boy. I'm gonna need to have something set for when summer hits down here.

Hey, I should've just asked you about this stuff!
It's just that I'm afraid to do too much of something if I do it myself but then again I'm just testing these products.

The only chemical stuff I want to be giving my boy is for heartworm.

Same here and that's exactly what we do too. For garlic, I don’t do exact measurements but less than 1/8 tsp. Because of his arthritis supplement regimen my sibe takes a garlic pill that contains 600 mg which he gets Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Would you think it's okay to do both oil and garlic? Or stick to one thing?
And yeah that's the only chemical I ever want to be in his system, it's enough. And since Mylo didn't have a bad reaction to the heartworm pill then I'll keep it rolling.
I know people/family that never ever gave their dogs anything for fleas/ticks for their entire lifetime..that's why I don't think having chemicals on the furr/skin is nessesary.

You can certainly do one or the other or both if you prefer. I used to do both and now only do one and so far haven't had a problem.

Okay cause the way I see it is, something going in inside and outside and since they are both natural organic things then it still has to be better than the chemical stuff haha

The bottle is mostly water. Straight up essential oil should not come in contact with the skin to avoid irritation. It's also greasy so I don't put essential oil on the coat directly either, I simply did a drop of oil on the collar and harness (since I walk my dogs in harness) once a week. If you want to spray the coat with a DIY mixture you can. Simply take an empty spray bottle and fill it with water and you can add maybe 10 or so drops of the essential oil(s) of your choosing. Shake it up well before each use and spray away on the dog and/or the dogs bedding.
