Bandit loves to chew her toys. She 8s good never chews on anything in the house. She loves to chew. That being said can She chew too much? She's almost 9 months now. If we play outside she likes fetch amazingly but as she brings back what I throw she chews while running. While inside she loves to chew. I try not to do too much playing inside. Don't want her to think sprinting in the house is okay. But times if I'm watching tv she'll chew then nap then wake up and chew then nap then chew and so on. She switches toys a lot and will take breaks investigating the house or looking outside but she just loves chewing.

She's a dog. Dogs love to chew. A great stress reliever, boredom filler. When Ami gets his bone, he looks sooooo satisfied! Providing she is not chewing something inappropriate or damaging her teeth...let her chew. My opinion.

Dogs chew for a lot of different reason - assuming we're not talking about them chewing their food. As Amy says, it's a great stress reliever and gives them something to do when they're bored.

I'm repeating her, mainly, for one reason. You've been anxious, for lack of a better word, ever since you brought Bandit home - it quite probable that she sense you anxiety and her chewing is her way of releasing the tension that it builds up in her.

You're inexperienced as a dog owner - learning well and fast, but still basically inexperienced. You've brought a lot of things here that anyone with any experience wouldn't think twice about - and that's not criticism, it's really good that you do - but at the same time that inexperience reflects in your nervousness about the things she does ...

I was just making sure cause she loves doing it all the time. Which is fine I guess. There is so much progress I've had with all the help from everyone here. I thought owning a dog was taking it out to pee and feeding it. Turns out there's a lot more lol

Sounds to me like she is dealing with whatever it is...boredom, anxiety...on her on terms, which thankfully, are appropriate and non-detrimental to you or your stuff.

If it's her mindset you are concerned about, you can slow that down even more by teaching the Place command and enforcing it, giving her accountability for breaking it---which basically just means correcting her if she gets off of Place.

Place is like doggie meditation. You will slow the mind down and teach a dog to relax, fully, if you properly teach the Place command.

That would be my suggestion if the chewing is annoying or concerning for you. But, as it is, count your blessings. She's chewing her stuff.

Place command is put all 4 paws on this thing (mat, cot, piece of floor that is different, towel...) and hang out however you like (sit, stand, down, sleep, whatever).

It's like Down, but looser and it's not a position like down, but just being on a Place.

It's an absolute game changer. It can take care of anxiety, stress, counter surfing, rushing the door, jumping on guests, hyperness, begging for food....other type of household bad behavior.
