| I am fighting a nasty cold so I have had tons of time to sit around and think. So I thought up all of the not normal husky behaviors Simon does and was wondering what non typical husky behaviors your dogs do.
Simon will Spend all day laying around such as the last few days when I have been sick. He is not destructive with anything other than his toys. He isn't much of a digger. He will sometimes play fetch.
So lets hear it how weird are you huskies? |

| Those are some not so bad unhusky qualities lol. At three months Klaus is husky-like in just about every way, although he isn't as talkative as I thought he would be! |

| Kohdi's biggest un-husky like quality is that he doesn't pull on his walks. Walks right by my side except when he takes a break to do those zoomie things on peoples lawns. He's extremely mellow too. Other than that he's pure Husky, haha..., talks and talks and talks...then talks some more, haha, LOVES to run, LOVES to dig, and LOVES to tear up his toys Mishka is just pure Husky in every way...especially pulling |

| My guy digs when he's bored but not very often. He has no urge to escape, he doesn't pull on walks, loves fetch, and has pretty good recall.
He was destructive as a puppy. Mostly cords. We lost 3 lamps to his teething

| Mishka does not try to escape the yard. He has never destroyed anything beyond a toy or two and his bed when he was a puppy (and any paper left lying around), never chewed or ripped up the furniture.
I want to say the most destructive thing he has done was he did tear up a foam flip flop and a card reader George had laying around.
He doesn't howl or talk much either. Lol. _________________ |

| Lycus doesn't try to jump our fencing to escape either. Although, if theres an open gate, he's gone lol. Also, my favorite part about him, is when I'm really sick and I can't walk him, he's happy to just sleep all day with me with no complaints lol. |

| The handful of times Okami has gotten off leash, she hasn't run off... infact she stays near me and follows me... but I still don't trust her lol. I just open the front door and she bolts in the house. Lucky? Maybe. I won't question it, and just roll with it. |

| What a great thread......Miya is what I call a down for whatever husky, lol. Like some of the others, she is content snuggling with me, as long as she gets a few good zoomies in during potty breaks. She's very affectionate and will climb in my lap for hugs, she has very good recall, and although I do not trust her by herself outside, she does know our property lines and will not cross those lines with out permission. Forgot to add, Miya will play fetch almost always, well sort of, on her way back it's either full on tackle, or zoomies, but will resume fetch after that, lol.... |

| Ami is very laid back... now that he has the run of the property and can come in and out at will ( he has a doggie doorbell). He also is quite trainable and respects boundaries - before the efence, I could leave him in the back yard with a 4 ft chain link fence that he could have easily escaped - both under our over. Never tried! He's not too talkative, either, though some. Only heard him how'll twice since we got him.

| Sinatra will sleep all day...he is so lazy compared to Kesler! He runs like mad when we are outside, but inside, he is content just being lazy. Kesler will play fetch...but everything else, he is pretty husky-like. Though he hasn't tried to escape (except when Sinatra broke open the gate and they ran to the next town....but i firmly believe he wouldn't have done it if Sinatra hadn't ) |

| Loki has great recall. He will go out in the front yard with me (no fence or leash) and hang out with me while I'm doing lawn work. He will go run errands with me also with no leash on, but I keep one with me just in case. The times he has escaped the fenced back yard, I whistle out the front door and he'll come running back. He also loves fetch and will play until I get tired of it. |

| LOL, this thread is great! Phoenix is very husky-like, but something that I think may be unhusky-like is that she loves to take baths and doesn't seem to mind grooming. We say "Phoenix, do you want a bath," and she books it down the hall and jumps into the tub! She also lays down nicely for the blow dryer, although it's just a cheap doggie dryer...not a higher powered one. Can't wait to see what happens when we try one of those out on her. |

So lets hear it how weird are you huskies? Layla is the same as Simon. She seems content to lay around all day but does get excited when it's time for a walk or to go outside to play. She's never destroyed anything other than her toys and hasn't shown any signs of being an escape artist. She doesn't really like climbing on things and has never tried to jump over gates or fences. We allow her to be in the garage with us off-leash with the door open as she has shown us we can trust her not to leave the garage. She's even getting better at recall when she's out on her lead for potty. She will dig when she's super excited or smells a critter but otherwise she leaves the yard be. She does play fetch sometimes, too. She'll even play fetch with herself: She'll take her tennis ball and drop it down the stairs, run and get it, then come back upstairs and repeat the process until she's tired. Other than that she's your typical Husky: high prey drive, so-so recall, only affectionate on her own terms, never met a person she didn't like and has a friendly demeanor toward other dogs. I think she's perfect just the way she is. |

| Ronin's un-husky traits.
Will eat any food, not fussy at all, cast iron stomach (he is fed prey model raw now)
Completely toilet trained in two days (breeder started training as young pups and he came to me at 8 weeks)
Will loose lead walk (did lots of training though)
Doesn't try to escape - (unless door or gate is open)
Doesn't destroy anything when left alone
Happy to sleep through day time
Plays fetch and brings back the ball
Plays with most breeds of dogs (especially greyhounds) and tolerates very small dogs.
Ronin's common Husky traits
Loves to run and swim
Full on mouthing as puppy, but getting much better now
Chooses times to pretend he is deaf
Will eat a bird if he can catch it (4 devoured so far)
Chooses his time to show affection
Talks, howls and argues
Tries to get the best spot on the sofa
Questionable recall (50%) |

| Doom hasn't ever tried to dig his way out of our yard, and is generally rather uninterested in making an escape. Other than that, and maybe that he is very quiet (will only make noise when he's frustrated at/or with something/someone or left home alone) he's very Husky, lol. |

| Tchembe is unhusky like in that he: is not a digger is not at all interested in escaping our yard is not interested in dashing out doors or running off has very good recall for a one year old will play fetch
Very husky like: amazing hunter (moles, chipmunks, birds - swallowed a morning dove whole at 7mos.) loves to run and swim very chatty very affectionate is a picky eater - unless its something gross he caught very smart - (I learned early on I had to leave dog games for him to play when I started leaving him out of the crate when I ran errands. Or he readily invents his own!) LOVES to pull - skijoring and roller blades help with that! very funny loves to be up high always ready to go anywhere and everywhere with his pack VERY enthusiastic greeter! |

| New thing I have discovered. Simon is pretty good off leash. He has a good recall and doesn't "lose himself and just run" After he lost me for a bit he has a habit of making sure he keeps an eye on me when he runs and we play a game where I take off in the other direction and he races to me.
Now we only do this out in the middle of nowhere away from cars and people and everything but he really impressed me. More work is needed but I think with some more training and when he is older and more mature my goal of off leash hiking trips will be a thing. |
