| Hi all! I'm Nikki from CA and my husband and I just adopted a 14 week old puppy, Penelope (nn Penny!) She's 12 lbs. and the rescue we got her from didn't have any info on her or her litter mates other than they were left in the parking lot in a box at about 3 weeks. I'm attaching a few pictures and was hoping you could help me guess what she may be! She is on the small side and I don't think a purebred, but lot's of people's guesses have been part husky. Figured you would be the people to know! Thank you! https://2img.net/h/i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j397/nikkihd/IMG_0073_zpsq0fww4f2.jpg https://2img.net/h/i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j397/nikkihd/IMG_0074_zpsmywkiaxp.jpg |

| Those ears scream Corgi. Hard to tell on husky at that age. As she ages her other half will stand out more. She does seem like there might be something in there that has a little longer hair and her tail curls. What a rough beginning for such a cute pup. _________________ |

| Yes, corgi has been the other breed guessed a few times! The rescue was actually a golden retriever rescue, and her litter mates were fluffier with floppy ears like goldens. Sometimes Penny even looks chihuahua! Can't wait for her DNA test to get here because I am so excited to know! Thank you for your response! |

| Oh my goodness, those ears. A big wind and she could fly away. lol. She is too cute. Interesting how specific on the shepherd the test was. I wasn't sure how detailed they could get. _________________ |

| I love that bottom picture where she's looking straight at the camera. But, my god, if she ever grows into those ears - and they mostly do - she's gonna be one big dog!!! She's got some fairly decent sized paw on her, too - another give-away for eventual size. _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| I really don't think those ears are size indicators. They remind me A LOT of a corgi. I doubt she will get huge.
Jenn-That's why I'm skeptical of these DNA tests. 25% Swiss White Shepherd? That is a pretty obscure breed to have such a high showing in a random mixed dog. She is adorable regardless.

| Sara - I agree that it's an obscure, specific breed to show up! But these tests are done via saliva, sight un-seen, and when I looked up Swiss pics, they look exactly like my girl's litter mates! My Penny has a shorter, less fluffy coat than her litter mates, but otherwise I would say it's the breed she most closely physically resembles!
I must say, I'm shocked there was no Corgi listed. Those ears, man! |
