Hey I am looking at switching to Victor dog food and I was wondering if anyone has used it and what your thoughts were with it.

Thanks!

At a quick glance it looks like a quality food- pretty much all but the senior formula are adequate calorie foods-

I am having issues keeping weight on Simon even with feeding him 3 times a day and giving him 4 cups of the TOTW. I was talking to some people that work dogs and they suggested trying a food with higher protein and fat.

Simon looks fine because he is so fluffy but I can feel all of his ribs pretty easy and his spine.

I found the victor hi-pro for active dogs looked pretty good and I am a little worried about my guy not keeping weight on.

What TOTW formula were you on? I had a lot of success with minimal supplementation at the peak of running season with High Prairie...but that was a 32/18. We did make the switch to Eagle Pack Power last month and it's almost 100kcal/cup more than the TOTW HP (not to mention same price for 10lbs more food).

For Siberians you do want a High protein/moderate-high fat low carb food.

I was using the Pacific Stream formula. And by supplementation do you mean mixing it with meat?

He goes to work with me and runs around all day so I almost worry he is to active.

I was adding a half scoop Annamaet Impact, which is like a protein shake for dogs, as well as a specific mushers mix of raw meats and fats. Early season that wasn't needed, but by the time we were running 20-ish miles per run 3 times per week it certainly helped keep everyone at tip top shape.

Should it be that hard to keep weight on a year old who is mostly free running in large yards? He does do a fair amount of chasing other dogs and running the fence. It feels weird to have to feed him like he is sledding when he is barely in harness at all?

One thing to consider is he is only a year old. They don't fill out and often look gangly until 2-4 years of age. Many won't put on that nice back muscle cover until they start working in harness, especially given what is in his lineage. At a year old OMG Denali look awful! It wasn't until he was 18-20mos he started to actually look decent.
