| So last night my boyfriend and I had quite a scare with Klaus. After taking him outside when I got home from work I noticed that his pupils were two completely different sizes. One was much smaller than the other. He was acting fine, eating, drinking, wanting to play but still I was panicking. I was thinking about trauma, poisoning, seizures, and made things even worse by getting on google After about 20 minutes they went back to what seems like normal size. We decided against the emergency vet since he had no other symptoms but kept him in our room that night for close observation. I have no idea what could have caused this, he didn't get into anything or have any kind of trauma as far as we are aware of and we keep a very close eye on him. We visited the vet this morning and since his pupils are back to normal size it is hard for them to diagnose what it could be. The vet didn't seem concerned that it could be trauma or anything like that. The whites of his eyes have been pink/red since we've got him - it varies. I've mentioned it before and they shrugged it off as possible allergies or from rough housing. However this time they gave me steroid drops for the redness and inflammation. I also feel like his iris isn't completely round, maybe I'm going crazy and over thinking, the vet didn't seem to notice it. I'm starting to question whether or not I like this vet. Once we finish the drops if the pink/redness doesn't go away he recommended us to an ophthalmologist, and we can also have them do some tests while we're there to check the health of his eyes. At this point I'm worried he is developing some kind of eye issue, just seems like there are too many little things going on. We will be setting up an ophthalmologist appointment regardless of the eye drops just because I want him tested. I'm just wondering if anyone else experiences frequent redness in their huskies eyes? Or have ever had the pupil situation happen? I'm worried sick about him now I hope the ophthalmologist can get us in soon to give us a better understanding of what he might have going on. |

| Haley, I would definitely get him checked for peace of mind. Miya gets red eye a lot, and never seems bothered, chalked it up to allergies, being sleepy, or playing too hard. If you do not feel comfy with your current vet, ask friends and neighbors who they go to, if they like them, and see what others recommend. I had a similar dislike for Miya's vet, and did that, although not a lot of choices I did discover I wasn't the only one who didn't like the vet, and got recommendations on another, will be going there next month for Miya's yearly shots, etc. The other questions I can't help with, but do wish you luck, and an expert should make you feel better. |

| I know Abby on here had an incident or two with different sized pupils but they went away on there own. I believe it was from Trauma, from rough play I believe is what it was lumped up to be.
Baylin my aussie gets reddish alot I took her to the vet and they actually told me the same as some above. Allergies wind and stuff in the air ie debris can cause the redness. They did do the black light and dye test one time when it was only one eye that was red. And they thought it was the wind irritation. Our has always gone away.
My only experience with eye issues otherwise is due to pressure or bulging (glaucoma) and we actually had a Veterinary Ophthalmologist for our first husky. Our regular vet recommended him as she said specific eye diagnosis is tricky. I would go just for your piece of mind. I was told to look for CERF certification abilities to know they are a reputable doctor. |

| Thanks guys. The red eye doesn't worry as much as the pupil situation. He's going to finish these eye drops then I'll be taking him into the specialist. They are called Blue Pearl and on their website it says that they are CERF certified. I just wonder how much closure they will be able to give me. He still has a lot of growing to do, but hopefully it's nothing. I wish I would have known to look for this type of certification when looking for pups, but I wouldn't take my decision back for anything. Klaus is a great dog it hurts my heart to think he has anything wrong with him! |

| Fwiw Haley, we have another member here who went to Blue Pearl and did an excellent job on eye surgery for his 10 year old with Diabetes and Glaucoma(I believe is what she had). I feel you are in excellent hands with them!! Keep us posted. |

| Good, I seen some mixed reviews but a lot of the bad reviews had to do with price. I'm already expecting a higher price considering it is a specialist :/
I'll update once he's had his testing done! |
