Plum Pits and dogs Empty
PostSubject: Plum Pits and dogs   Plum Pits and dogs EmptySun Jun 14, 2009 4:15 pm

Our nieghbors have a plum tree that slightly over hangs in our yard. Occasionally we get fallen not yet ripe plums in our yard. We do pick up any plums we see on a daily basis but sometimes we miss a couple and the dogs, of course, are so nice to find them for us. I know the pits are a big no no for dogs. They never have access to that area when we are not around. My question is how fatal are they and what are the symptoms. Like if the just chew on the pits and get little flakes off will that be enough to kill them or cause harm, or does it take eating the whole pit. We are pretty good at keeping an eye on them, so they never have the fruit for more than a couple of minutes, normally they don't even get to the pit. My computer sits in front of a big picture window that overlooks the backyard so I am frequently glancing at them to see what they are up too. Pretty much if it is quiet I know they are up to something Very Happy

The tree branches that over hang are really high up so I am debating the risks to my dogs with the money it would cost to have some one come trim the tree for us. I'm sure the people wouldn't care, I know I have the right to do it on the part that over hangs our side, but I am sure they would let me trim a little extra for the sake of my dogs, they are really nice.

Hmmm... I'm not sure on that at all. Our friends have apple trees in their yard and have the same problems. The dogs go nuts for the apples and they're constantly keeping an eye on them and cleaning them up.

I wish I could be of some help, but I think we're going to have to wait and see what some of our resident experts have to say...

Are carrots, green and red peppers, and cucumbers bad for them?

Carrots are not bad for dogs. I use them as a healthy treat for Ruger and he loves them. At first he didnt seem to be so fond of them, but has grown to really like them. As for Peppers and Cucumbers your guess is as good as mine. But they would seem like they would be alright. Just be sure to double check.

every night when im getting my lunch together(a salad) I feed them the veggies and they just love them, I do not give them the tomatoes or broccoli because I remembered them being bad but wanted to check on the things they do eat. Sierra loves carrots and Jack is starting to like them more, they still do not like the spinach
