| My 9 week puppy will not listen to me at all. She spent the first 8 weeks of her like outside in a yard with very minimal human interaction. We finally got her somewhat used to being around us and less afraid of humans but she's still very skittish. At just the slightest motion I make she jumps and runs away! If I tell her to come to me she won't if I tell her to come inside she stares at me and then turns away. Any suggestions on how to get her respect to listen to me? I understand she's young but I don't want her to continue ignoring my commands as she grows older. |

| She is a baby, why are you expecting a baby to understand... Seems you aren't giving her a reason to understand. You need to work on your relationship before you work on commands.

| I agree with the above. I'd also suggest doing a search on Siberian Husky puppy life stages, theres a lot of information on what to expect/what you will experience during the first 2 years of your puppies life. I just did one, just so I could post you a link here, but most links are attatched to a breeder so I won't attatch them here. But from your OP, your puppy is acting just as a 9 week old puppy is expected to, but the 8-20 weeks of life are critical for your puppies socialization skills so work on your relationship with him and work on some basic training (potty training is done at this stage) without expecting him to be as obedient as a full grown dog. |

| Hello and welcome. I think you've received some good advice here. I agree with the others. What you are describing is very normal for a puppy this age, and even more so with the hard life your little one lived for the first 8 weeks of her life. Listening and responding correctly to commands will not come to her automatically. This is something you will need to work on in a positive manner for the rest of her life. It is an ongoing process.
The Siberian really needs to trust their leader in order to respect that leader. You need to earn her trust with consistency and positive reinforcement training. Please check out the sticky notes here, as well as the link I will post below. Siberians require an unbelievable amount of positive training and tons and tons of patience on your part. If you don't know what to expect from them at any given life stage, it is nearly impossible to do right by them. Spend some time researching about how you should interact with and train a puppy this age and beyond. It is the best gift you can give your Siberian, and yourself.

| Keep in mind as well that besides the fact that you have a puppy who doesn't yet know you and who isn't trained, you are dealing with a Husky here.
Listening, as it were, is not something they are designed or expected to do. Stubbornness, independence, and disobedience are all normal parts of the breed.
Many, many of us have experienced that our Huskies didn't become our dogs until well over a year. They take a long time to bond with you and respect you. It can be challenging to find the return on your time spent with them as puppies because they are as you described.
Stick with it and be consistent. |

| Having little tiny tasty treats in your pocket every time you call her should, in time make her very attentive to your whereabouts |

| Work on things using the clicker. It is used as a unique marker for when the puppy does a behavior to say "Yes! That right there in that exact moment is what I'm rewarding for!" You can load the clicker by spending a little time each day with a clicker and bag of treats. Don't even need to say anything. Just click, treat, click, treat, click, treat, click, treat. Never longer than one second between the click and the treat. Then start building up the behavior... every time your puppy looks at you without you initiating, click and treat. This is called capturing, and in this case, its capturing a 'check-in' behavior. Later this builds into recalls and after a short stint of brainlessness from 6mo to a year-ish, recalls again.
