| Yeah I know it is antiacids lulz. I will have to try some of the stuff y'all suggested. For now, I have beef I am boiling ( it is beef that we obtain from the family farm, which is large pastures for the cows) and I added plain yogurt. She seemed to enjoy it, it was gone really fast. So at least her appetite is back....
But she is back to crying again. |

| Sounds like she had a really upset tummy...it could just be a bug. Definitely get a probiotic and add it to her meals from now on. That will definitely help.
Where are you in Michigan? That bill seems super high for what you received. |

| Lucy, Fyi my dog Kodabear had this happen two times. By process of elimination of food and treats, I figured out finally his was caused by treats that had flour in them. So, he only gets protein treats now and I have not had any further issue with the gas in his system.
I hope that Okami is doing better and by the way my vet prescribed the same meds. |

| Probiotics replace the good bacteria in her gut that the antibiotics will kill. I don't know a particular brand that is better than the rest or anything though. I've heard great things about Garden of Life probiotics for people working for dogs, but never used it. Maybe someone else will know other brands for you. |

yes, yes it is! We had that with Sierra last June, on my birthday. Ken was watching the dogs as i was on a work trip and i got a call as i was boarding the plane that she has a swollen eye and was puking, since i was not there i had no idea if she got into something so off to the vet in the morning we went, then the bill, then the canceling of all my bday events. you can try some plain yogurt as the live cultures in it will be good for her. hope she gets better soon _________________ |

| I have been mixing in some Dannon Plain yogurt with her boiled beef. It looks so disgusting to me, but she really likes it lol... silly dog. That would be so scary! Things like that make me afraid to go anywhere I am sorry you had to go through that. |

| If I new Kosher "rules"? I might get the joke! Strange fact, I found a list in a truck once of all the trailers that had been blessed by a Rabbi to haul Kosher food. I had no idea that everything having contact with the food is suppose to be blessed. So many different and interesting things out in the world. |

Coming from the biblical prohibition "Thou shalt not boil a kid in its' mother's milk" the rabbis decreed that milk and meat are not to be eaten together in the same meal. If you have a dairy meal, you can have meat reasonably soon after (with some, rinsing the mouth first). With a meat meal, a period of at least 2 hours before ingesting dairy. If I remember it all correctly. I had to become very familiar with all this when my son was in a Jewish day school - his 2 best friends were sons of Orthodox rabbis...which posed major issues just providing an after school snack! |

| So the day before yesterday, and last night, I have noticed Okami reverse sneezing a couple of times... it doesn't last long, but she has NEVER done it before... is this something normal? Or is that odd that it would be a new issue so close to her having been at the vet and what not? |

| I would keep an eye on the reverse sneezing a bit and see how she does. I really hope she gets better quickly! On the Kosher discussion, Aaron and I once ate a sausage pizza on Passover (he's Jewish, I'm not) _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | I don't even know what kinds of issues reverse sneezing entails though. Is it something general and not to worry about? Or is it because it is just starting, is there something I should do or be worried about? |

| Lucy,
I was hoping that Colleen(huskylear), I hope I got her name all right, would have seen this, she has a lot of experience with it. She mentioned that typically it occurs Spring and Fall and it is allergy related. Miya has done this in the Spring and Fall. I read from a vet online, and she said typically it's allergies, but in the case like Miya it can be as simple as extreme heat changes. Here in Texas I'm going with that, for now. Both times there was over a 50 degree difference in temperatures from one day to the next. Colleen made me feel better in knowing that if it's from what I read or allergies I didn't really need to worry, unless it became more frequent. Did you do a search here on reverse sneezing? I'm pretty sure that's the thread and it was pretty recent when posted. In the meantime I would watch her, to make sure she isn't doing the sneezing a lot. |
