| Puppies sleep a lot but at when it's not night she naps obviously. Is it okay for her to cuddle up and lay on me? She goes in the crate at night and doesn't mind it. Is it bad to cuddle up with her? Does that throw a wrong sign that I'm not the alpha? Or am I just looking to far into it lol |

| Cuddling is fine puppies sleep everywhere. The only downside that I can see is that you could sick her in her crate when she naps to help her get used to it. But sleeping on you is fine just realize that it could become a habit and might be annoying when she is big. |

| Hi, Tony. I agree with Elise. It's funny because I was just reading an article about the whole alpha/human issue that I found to be very interesting and enlightening. In fact, there is a lot of excellent info about dog behavior and training on this site. Here is the link to the article I am referring to: http://www.dogstardaily.com/blogs/lets-just-be-humans-training-dogs Enjoy those puppy cuddles! |

| Well, I just saw this post was duplicated. Anyway, for clarity, here is my post in the duplicate thread that agrees with the above 2 posts:
You are looking too far into it.
It is continually up for serous debate whether or not Alpha means anything to dogs OR whether or not that translates to humans in any way what so ever, but even IF it does, allowing your puppy to nap on you does not mean in any way that your Alpha status has been diminished.
Puppies nap on and with their mothers all the time.
Your goal with your puppy should be bonding and building trust and respect, not building dominance.
Questioning your Alpha status is not a very Alpha thing to do, by the way.
Enjoy your puppy. |

| Agreed, Jeff.
In addition, it is a good bonding thing for you and your pup.
Another thing I read before, and have mentioned in maybe a couple of other threads that is interesting
There are four types of husky sleep locations and what they mean. Doesn't mean anything too concrete for puppies, but pay attention as they are older.
If they sleep really close, have to be touching you or on you, they feel safe with you and lay their trust in you to protect them.
I they sleep somewhat near you but, choose to have some space, they know you can protect them, but they want you to know they can hold their own too.
If they sleep far away, they want you to know that they can protect the whole house hold and have no fear to let you know every little detail to protect you.
If they sleep belly up, they are free of spirit and have a very carefree nature.
They grow up fast, enjoy the little things. |

| O.k Lucy, what does it mean when they do all of the above all night long? I too think it is fine if your puppy sleeps on you. I find it to be relaxing, even when the puppy in question is now forty to fifty pounds. We have dogs to enjoy them so enjoy your dog! |

| Aw!!! I'm so jealous! Diz was a hell spawn when he was that age! It was like trying to cuddle with a porcupine! He's getting to be a very sweet pup now though. |

| Ditto the jealous Ami likes his "personal space". I still treasure the ride home from Ithaca when I had to sit in the back because we had a box in the front seat - Ami at first was quite bewildered with me in HIS backseat, gradually over the ride, he went from plastered against the opposite door to curled up on his side to his paw over my leg to finally, a few miles from home, curled up next to me with his head in my lap! So I'm with Hughie...enjoy your cuddle time. Good for what ails you. |

| I say cuddle with your puppy as much and as often as you can! They grow up way too fast to worry about such things! |

Yeah, it has become my "go-to" site when I wonder why our crazy puppy is doing such-and-such crazy thing, and how do I cure the issue. |

My puppy does all of the above! |
