Forum Rules | 1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect. 2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff. 3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned. 4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule. |

| Subject: So Many "Firsts" Today! Sat Nov 01, 2014 10:29 pm | |
| Today we got Phoenix into the vet and she did really well. She got her first set of shots (I guess it didn't work out for her breeder to do these). We are starting her on oral Trifexis tomorrow and getting her dewormed on Monday. She weighs in at 14.5 pounds, so she's definitely on the big size. I was wondering about her bite, but it is apparently "perfect," and they said she appears to be very healthy overall. The vet gave her a very durable toy called a busy buddy. She loves it! I want to get more of those. As far as socialization, the vet agreed with Jen, LOL, and heavily recommended the puppy classes, so we are going to go ahead with those, but they don't start up for a couple more weeks. We have a couple of friends who are each bringing home 8 week Goldens from the same litter tomorrow, so she will have two new playmates her age to keep her occupied until then. We also plan to try to get her to meet as many new people (with clean hands) as possible, to make sure she gets plenty of outside interaction. She seems to enjoy being brushed and combed and we are trying to handle her feet and ears a lot, and peek at her teeth. Oh yeah, we bought her a toothbrush and doggy toothpaste that she seems to like, as well as a bunch of new toys. She even had a bath today and acted pretty darned naughty in the tub, so we need to work on that. She also makes a big fuss about the dryer. We used a Chris Christensen sample kit and it works really well, so I think we will continue with that. I need to dig out my dremmel kit and start getting her used to that for her nail care. I really want to get a HVD as soon as possible, too. She met a lot of new people and it was love at first site for every one of them, LOL! She's a little princess diva dog! Overall, it was a great day, full of fun and lots of new experiences. She is like a little ray of sunshine. I just had to share. |
