| My husky is now 7 Months old and 55.3 lbs . He is a very big boy and a great puppy. I still wonder the point of neutering him since all he does is mount other dogs at rhe dog park to instigate them to run. He isn't aggressive but lately he has defended himself instead of whimpering. I want to keep his strength and muscular look he has and maybe possibly breed him. I have read everything on neutering positives and negatives. So basically what I am looking for is. Why should I neuter him? |

| I would get him neutered, it wont affect his looks in any way but may decrease the amount of times he will have to "defend" himself. I remember reading somewhere that neutered dogs can tend to be jealous of non-neutered dogs as well, and it's always a pain to keep them away from females in heat unless he's neutered.
I would also discourage breeding him. While it may sound like a good idea on paper, if you don't do it right you could end up with a ton of problems on your hands. Genetic health problems in particular are very easy to pass onto puppies, especially if your dog's lineage is shady or unknown. In fact you can't even test for genetic defects until your dog is two years old; and breeding in general isn't something an average owner can take on without turning it into their whole lifestyle.
If you're going to neuter him the best time to do it would probably be at around a year old. That way he has a chance to mature naturally and wont be cut off from his hormones too soon. |

| Couldn't have said it better Aidan, though I'd have probably said more - it's good you answered! _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| Agree with AMB, but also want to add, watch the humping at the dog park. You may think its no big deal, but some dogs, who are otherwise well behaved, react badly. It could cause them to attack your dog. |

| The best thing that ever happened for us was to neuter my male dog. At 2 years old he was humping, marking, and just in general rubbing other males wrong, not to mention how crazy he would get if a female in heat was around. It made him a better more manageable animal and I don't have to worry about him around females at the park and inadvertently impregnate any there or him gettin bullied by other males.
I second not breeding him. It's a huge responsibility to do right and not jeopardize the health and welfare of the generations you would be producing. There are so many in shelters people need to give homes to. _________________ |

| Idk I am starting to think about it due to dog park things. He used to always cower whimper now that he is getting older he defends himself and wants to be alpha and gets possessive of toys he plays keep away with and won't play with himself |
