Hi Everyone! I'm suprised I never found this forum earlier. I've googled huskies many many times as you all are probably aware that the questions are never ending! I found BO (short for HOBO) the day after Easter Apr 6, 2010. The poor boy was wandering down the yellow line on a rural road between Delaware and Maryland. I already had 2 2 year old puppies at home (Dane/Lab mix and a Mastiff/lab mix but had always wanted a beautiful blue eye since childhood (long time). Anyway he was filthy, mangy, smelled of skunk and very malnourished. Needless to say I was very suprised when I opened my car door and he hopped in and laid down in the back seat without even a bribe! Then licked my cheek as I closed the door. The vet down the street found no tags or microchip, we posted him for over a month but to no avail. The only male he'll go near are my husband and son all other males make him very skittish and he he flinches from a raised arm so I hate to think what this poor baby went through! After 4 weeks we neutered him, microchipped him, updated all shots and called him our own. The vet says people "dump" on the road near them constantly because rural and they hope the vet will have animal lovers nearby who will rescue. So sad! The only thing is I wish I knew... how old he is. Vet said "by checking teeth" that he was probably about 1 1/2 at the time putting his birth date at late October early November. So he's probaby 2 now. He's always been a runner of course but lately he's been waiting for me to walk with him before running off and he will stay near by if I "drop" the leash. A little hard to do now with the Noreaster we had after Christmas but we have 4 acres partially wooded and he LOVES the trails. He was 52 lbs in April and is now about 65. He had a very bad case of whip worms. Wonder how far and for how long he actually ran to find me. He's my angel! I still have the female spayed Dane/lab mix who thinks she's Alpha but overall we've all adjusted well! Just this week he proved dominant over her for the 1st time. Can't wait to get help from my new friends I hope to meet soon! Already got one question answered. The electric fence have been debating on it's repair or a kennel.. Definatly going with the kennel since my backyard is full of beaver, deer, rabbit, cats and other critters!! And he's already bowed all the rails surrounding my pool fence. Working on dog lead #2 now! Happy New Year!!

That is such a lovely story! I'm so glad he found you. It breaks my heart when animals are abused and just thrown away like they are trash. I never understand how anyone can treat another living thing like that.

Welcome to you! There is so much info to be found here...sometimes I think the name of the forum should be "Everything you ever wanted or needed to know about a husky". I know, a little long. Kudos to you for picking him up that day! I have to agree that YOU are HIS angel. Some would have driven right past him. I believe there is a place in heaven for animal rescuers!
