Hi, I'm of course Wmily and my nut job is Lucifer we live in Everett WA and are looking for dog friendly hiking trails for the fall/winter since his energy is driving me crazy XD, the poor thing usually just gets a normal walk nothing special but i'd like to find some nearby trails to exhaust him. Any suggestions?

You are near the Mountain Loop Highway- lots of trails off it.
I would suggest Mt. Pilchuck State Park.
But be careful.
Don't leave anything in your car of value, or that looks like it's valuable.
Lots of car clouting stories on NW Hikers about Mt. Loop.

Have you looked into bikejoring as a form of exercise? Or carting, dog scootering, skijoring, etc.? Plus, contact your local sled dog club, as they will probably be able to answer any of your questions about outdoorsy stuff, trails, etc. for your area.

Also wanted to add that bikejoring, and soon to be Diggler dog scootering, was my answer when walks and runs were no longer an effective means of exercising my pack. Even with bikejoring, I have yet to make a dent in Paw Paw's stamina and endurance. He has never gotten tired enough where he just decided enough was enough. Walks were not doing it. I couldn't run fast enough to keep up with him. On a bike, he can pull and run all he wants and I don't have to pedal at all. He does all of the work. I slowly added each dog until I got all 4 bikejoring. When I return home from Korea in October I'll finally be buying the Diggler Zephyr dog scooter after waiting and saving $ for 4 years.

So I understand your frustration with exercise and your Devil's energy levels. Once I discovered bikejoring and other dog powered urban mushing sports, I rarely walk or run the dogs at all. This seems to be so much more fun for them, and for me!
