2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Max, try using the bathroom, or invest in a baby gate and place him in a time out in a safe room. He's testing his boundaries and is entering his teenage phase. He may be requiring more exercise than he has been getting, so you may need to up that to expel extra energy. Also secondary commands training is beneficial at this time. Such as (if you haven't then you need to start, if you have you need to emphasize your training) "leave it", "drop it", "mine", "enough", reinforce "lay down" and "stay", teach the difference between "lay down" and "down". Yes a husky can learn all of these as well as "be nice", or "be good", and "be gentle". Yes this is time consuming, yes this is a challenging time, however, this will make him a better dog who will form a bond, manners, respect and trust. I found that playing and command training as well as walking and command training extremely beneficial to the both of us. Huskies are stubborn and get bored easily, it's their nature. By incorporating play/train or walk/train it was easier to keep her attention, and results were quicker than by command training only.

Some examples that I found successful were getting on the ground, being at their level builds bonding and respect, get his favorite toy and start doing the commands I mentioned above, i.e. drop it, leave it, then play a bit, then repeat, start with one or two commands and repeat until success before moving on, reward when he does well, whether treat or verbal good boy and pat on shoulder. It can be done as well as be fun, and will tire him. Remember a tired husky is a well behaved husky.

Just like I've learned with raising children, negative attention is better than zero attention. What I've found works with my dogs is physical and mental stimulation. The more drained they are both mentally and physically, the less rascally they will be. Training, training, training. You will be training this dog from day one until the end, constantly reinforcing and reminding of the difference between desired and undesired behavior. Sibes are known to challenge every step of the way, so that constant refresher helps keep them on their toes. I truly believe that, if they weren't difficult on this level, we might not appreciate and love them as much! There's something special about a human willing to take on the long term challenge of a Siberian. Some think we come from a different planet. I think we are just "special" in our own way, a way that cannot be explained. There is a connection between Sibe and Human similar to ancient ancestor Wolf and primitive Human.
