| Hello! I wanted to kind of formally introduce myself. I made a post somewhere else, but that was before I was an official husky owner.
On Wednesday my Fiance and I have welcomed an 8 week old Siberian Husky puppy into our family! We weren't planning to until November/December time, but we found this little guy who needed a home, and his parents had great temperments, the parents had eyes and hips tested and he was just so darn cute so.... we decided he needed to come home with us. Haha.
He's red and white and oh so cute! I'd post a picture of him, but I'm at work and it won't let me (Fiance has a mild cold, so he's the one who gets to stay home and watch puppy and rest a bit). We've named him Ryder and he is doing so well with his training! The only issue we're having is his pooping schedule is off. So far, he doesn't really poo after eating. We stop giving him food 2 hours before bed and he's pooping twice during the night. He pooped this morning after his breakfast, so hopefully our feeding schedule is finally showing some effect.... He's scheduled to see the vet on Tuesday to make sure he's healthy and I've enrolled him for puppy pre-school classes that start 09-21. So, hopefully we're off to a good start!
As far as other pets go, We have a 5 y/o male Pomeranian named Vinnie and a 2 y/o female Lab mix named Baylee. I think Vinnie is starting to warm up to Ryder, and Baylee already loves him (but, like a typical goofy Lab, she loves everyone and everything).
I look forward to becoming a part of the community and getting lots of advice for my growing pup! |

| Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new puppy!
As for poo schedule - I think I read somewhere that intestinal transit time for dogs is about 6 hours - so if you're feeding him 2 hours before bed, that puts poo-time about 4 hours into sleep time. But, since he's such a young one and it has been many, many moons since I've had puppy experience I defer to others who have much more recent experience! Unfortunately, most of those are much more likely to be around during the week - the forum is usually pretty quiet on weekends. I'm just pooped and procrastinating - I have to do the recycling, close the pool, vacuum, dust, wash the floor and attack a mountain of laundry... |

| Thank you!
Hmmm... maybe I'll try making his 3rd meal of the day a bit earlier. Everything I've read so far says no food 2 hours before bedtime and they shouldn't have to poo during the night. I could be reading wrong information though, you know how that goes. I just feel bad for the poor guy, he can hold his pee for me to take him out a few times at night, but the last few nights he's pooped his crate. Last night he was actually able to hold it until I took him out. So, hopefully that's improvement! I've had Vinnie since he was a young puppy, but that's been 5 years and I honestly do not remember much of his early potty training! I'm just trying to re-learn everything and I guess I may be overthinking things...
Haha, I hear you on that! It's amazing how much housework piles up in just a few days when you're busy with a puppy..... |

| Ah, Brittany, he's an 8 week old puppy, he doesn't know when he has to go yet!!! << excuse me for laughing! >> You've probably got a few more weeks of those very interrupted nights before things start to settle down - but like y'all, it's been a while since I've had puppy duty.
While I did have to laugh about your copmment re Brittany (nice name, btw) I've had a few labs in my day and current have an Alaskan Husky (Avalanche) who definitely falls into the nutty teen ager - even though he's well past *his* teen age years!

| Welcome! He is very cute. I noticed with mine that for some reason walking and running in the backyard gets their system moving. Not sure if it helps, just what I notice. |

| Hey there, welcome! Your pup is a cutie. Also, I noticed you're in Ohio! Check out our group https://www.facebook.com/groups/510780442274114/
We're an Ohio-based meet up group. We do meets twice a month (one in northern ohio, one in southern ohio) so once your cutie is utd on shots he can join in on those, and we post pictures to share our cuties and get to chat with other ohio husky owners. We'd love to see you, Vinnie, Baylee, and Ryder join!! |

| Thanks Megan! I've actually already joined the group of few months ago. So I'm very excited to be a more active member of the community.
Thank you Vince! He is pretty darn cute, isn't he? I'm a little scared for when his 'teenage' phase comes about. I have a feeling he's going to be a huge monster, because he has honestly made this puppy thing too easy. I couldn't have asked for a more well behaved puppy. |
