| Before we bought our puppy, we went over names with my five year old son. He is really into super heroes with the Avengers being his favorite movie right now. He wanted to name the puppy Hulk or Ironman. Going through the characters we settled on Loki.
Here I am thinking we have such a cool original name!
Apparently I was wrong lol! I have seen many dogs now with that same name (including here on this forum). I just did not realize it was such a popular name! |

| Given the attitude of most Huskies, "Loki" (the trickster) is a natural ... _________________ “Properly trained, a man can be dog’s best friend.” Corey Ford . |

| I have seen several variations of Miya here, of course the vet just assumed it was Maya, so her records show it spelled that way, one of my neighbors saw her name tag and calls her MEE-A, he's old I don't correct him and poor Miya looks all over for a dog named Meea, lol. |

| I really like your girl's name, Renee! Is there a story behind it or just a name you like? |

| My husband named her Miya, I changed the spelling, because of the Mayan apocalypse, she was born just before the end of the world, lol. I knew many named their pets Maya, so I changed it to Miya and most of the time I call her My Miya. |

| It's funny the nicknames people come up with. I've been calling Loki "Pup Pup" and "Pupperton". I have no idea where those came from, but that's what I've saying. Unless I'm telling him a command, (Loki come, Loki sit) then I don't say Loki much lol |

| Kelly, that's the first I've heard of a cat being named Loki! I had a cat for 17 years, me being 5 when we got him, I named him Whiskers. Very original on that one! |

| Lol, Casey. I have to use Miya in every command, or she thinks I'm talking to the husky behind her, lol!!
3 out of 4 of our cat's names were after mortal kombat characters Smoke, Kitana, Sonya, the odd ball was named Flash. |

| That is a great way to phrase it! "the husky behind her" My sister has called her German Shepherd (Saxon) 'The Boo Boo' so many times, he responds to it. What makes me laugh is it's not Boo Boo, it's THE Boo Boo. |

| We named our guy Loki because I was reading the Prose Edda at the time we got him. There was just something intriguing about a God whose trickering leads to the death of Odin's favorite son and whose deception, in turn, ushers in the death of all the Gods (Odin, Thor, and Heimdallr are all killed by either Loki or his sons).
I knew that Huskies often invited very Nordic names, but I wasn't thinking it would be that popular either. Alas(!), that Tom Hiddleston is just too good of an actor. |

| Robert I agree with you! Going through the Avengers characters, I first suggested Thor, but then thought, Loki, the god of trickery and mischief! What a perfect name for a puppy!
I actually had a person ask me why I would name my dog after a pipe people smoke drugs out of (I think they meant Loker....is that what its called?) Obviously they don't have much knowledge about Super Heroes or Nordic Gods lol. |

| Or do you say Norse Gods? I'm not going to lie, I'm not extremely informed on the subject although it is interesting to me. |

| Trickster God is just fit for many huskies. I have a Loki too. I thought I picked a good name until I joined a husky forum and realized many people have their own very special Loki.
Is it bad that for my second husky I actually searched multiple forums just to make sure it wasn't that common and it is a reason I picked the one I did? There appears to be a few dogs in Japan named Ichigo, but not to many in US. |

| Ichigo is one of the main characters from the Bleach anime series. He is a soul reaper and has two different faces. My puppy looked a little demonic and has two different eye colors which seems to give him different faces depending on how you look at him, so it seemed to fit. |
