Kesler had a massive allergic reaction this Saturday to some sort of bug/spider that bit him as he tried to eat it. His face was so swollen he looked like a pit bull and his tongue was swollen. We rushed him to the vet and he got his antihistamine shot along with adrenaline to help "quicken" the effects of the antihistamine. (Cuz you know...the one thing that a husky lacks is adrenaline Razz)

Anyway, the swelling went down within a few hours and all was fine throughout the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday. There has been no swelling or anything, but as of Sunday night he is constantly whining and whimpering. He is eating and playing like he normally does, and I haven't seen any signs of infection or anything.

Is he just being a drama king? or has anyone else experienced something like this after allergy shots?

I have checked him out physically and will keep doing so for the next few days. Haven't really seen anything abnormal so I am leaning towards it being an odd behavioural thing.
Any theories would be fantastic! Thanks!

Sometimes the injection site can be sore for a few days after, and depending on what bit him, lingering venom can cause the bite area to be sore or even make his joints sore. Not sure what kind of bug or spider it was, but here we have some spider breeds whose bites just make your whole body hurt kinda like having the flu. I think keeping an eye on him for now is best and don't baby him when he whines just in case it is behavioral (he could also be nervous about having another run in if he usually whines around his food bowl. Once bitten twice shy, they say), you don't want him to ham up the situation when there's nothing really wrong. Is he usually dramatic? lol. I would go with my gut if it persists for more than a few days and he isn't normally a whiner.

He can be a bit of a drama king! He once bit his tongue and screamed for 20 minutes lol.

I used to be a vet assistant so I am pretty comfortable in checking him out physically, but he is my first husky so some times the personality quirks throw me for a loop!

I didn't think about the lingering venom, if it was a spider, will keep an eye on him for the next few days for sure. And will TRY to keep him out of the woodpile..

Good luck with that - woodpiles are wonderful places for all sorts of furry little creatures that our prey-driven pups love... lol!

Oh for sure...he's found all sorts of things in there! Luckily our yard is fully fenced, so nothing too big has gotten in for him to attack. Yet. Knowing my luck the first bigger creature to find its way in to the yard will be a skunk..

Maybe check with your vet this morning. I believe when mine got stung, I gave benadryl for a few days.

I completely understand the drama king. I had to get use to Loki making everything seem like the end of the world.

My two cents worth -
If the site is still swollen then I'd agree with Jessica and continue to give a cap or two of benadryl until the swelling goes down.
If there is pain then a baby aspirin (note don't use anything with a dog except plain baby aspirin!!!!!!!!! Tylenol and it's ilk can be FATAL!) in the AMP and PM may help with the pain. Obviously try to find out the source of the pain. Possibly a stinger still in his gums?
