| Hey everyone - I know a lot of us go through vomiting with our pups, so I thought I would share what's going on with Delilah at the moment.
Today, I woke up to vomit all over my floor. The boys were crated because my husband leaves for work at 6 and they no longer want to stay in the bed and would rather be running around begin crazy husky-tards. So, instead, I put them in their crates for a few more hours and then let them out - obviously it wasn't them.
I'm not up for a 1/2 more when Delilah throws up yellow bile near the stairs. Naturally, I clean everything up and let them outside.
We get outside and Delilah is eating grass. My boys both eat grass, they are actually cows. Delilah never eats grass, so I figured something was up. Without fail, she threw up twice in the yard. I figure I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I call the vet and get her in pretty fast.
At the vet, they ask me all the normal questions: "Did she eat something she shouldn't have? Did you change her diet?" and yadda, yadda. There is nothing out of the ordinary.
Well, she has had normal bowel movements, so she was given cerenia, famotodine(sp?), sub-q fluids, and they did a full blood panel. She can't eat or drink until tomorrow afternoon (Which she is so pissed about) and she keeps bugging me for food.
I'll keep you updated as we go through everything! |

| Megan, I'm sorry to hear that she's such a beauty. Perhaps her internal clock is changing and she is requiring food earlier in the day? Miya is not a big morning eater, but she will do the same thing if I don't give her her biscuits early enough(she likes a lite snack in the am). I have read that researchers believe that grass smells like protein to dogs and that's why they eat it, hence hungry mom. Good luck and let us know. |

| Btw, the famotidine is pepcid, for acid reflux. My cat was on zantac, ranitidine for the same reason, throwing up bile first thing in the morning. The cerenia(it may have been metoclopromide, since cerenia is a newer treatment. It was bugging me what the second med was, so I looked up different meds.) she was also on to prevent throwing up. It can be a costly treatment. Are you feeding raw? At the time I was just feeding kibble, when I added wet food/raw(meat), her frequency and amount abated. I hope I helped.
I wanted to add, with Kitana she was treated with that about 10 years ago, she is currently 14, I hated giving her chemicals, so once I was done with the meds the vet gave me I started my own regime. I feed her many small meals throughout the day, and I always give her can cat food with gravy as her first meal of the day, she only licks the gravy, but I think it coats her tummy, the rest of the day I will switch from raw meat, kibble and the rest of the can. If I forget the can first she will throw up most of the day. I spend a good chunk of my day food catering to Miya, Kitana and hubby. It works, low cost, no chemicals and no throwing up.

| Renee,
I appreciate your input. Delilah is my trouble-dog. If any trouble is gonna happen it's going to happen to her. She's the sweetest and most well behaved husky on the planet, but she is so prone to issues and allergic to everything. We have been through many things with her.
Cerenia is used frequently by vets now, simply because keeping the dog from vomiting will keep the dog from dehydrate and getting worse problems. It's pretty routine nowadays.
I have the famotidine for myself at home, but I didn't feel like arguing with the vet and just took their with me.
Well, here's an UPDATE:I decided to go against the ruling of the first vet because I called the e vet about giving her water and she said that after 12 hours having water and food was fine and she wasn't sure why the first vet said 24. So, Delilah got water and boiled pasta because she hates rice. So far she is holding it down, let's hope it stays that way. Should have blood results sometime this morning. |

| Aw! I hope she's alright! Hopefully it's just a cyclical thing of some kind. Diz has had many diarrhea issues, and it seems once something tips off a digestive issue it will be off and on for a month before I can get it to reset itself. Last time it was when he got his vaccines, and it took forever to get him back to normal. I hope she stabilizes soon. Not sure if this would help Delilah, but it was something I stumbled on recently when he was having that vaccine reaction is that Stella and Chewy's dehydrated patties seem to really settle his stomach. I give them as treats dry, and it also makes him thirsty, so he will drink more water and stay better hydrated.
Anyway, I know your knowledge far exceeds mine, hopefully you can get her back on track soon and that the blood work is clear this am. |

| Jen, Miya same way as Dizzy. For some reason see goes on hunger strikes which makes the problem worse.
Megan, As with my cat all tests came back normal. I tweaked a diet that works for her. Amazing that after 10 years the treatment is the same for both cats and dogs. More amazing how vets still don't see it as a nutritional problem, I do.. Kitana is allergic to most fish, I feed strictly some form of beef or chicken only, with her gravy first thing. Good luck and keep us posted.

| Who knows what it was? The blood came back normal and she is fine today.
Must have been a fluke.

Ami does this very occasionally - I just keep him hydrated 'til it passes. I have all sorts of theories, but in the end, it comes, it goes and he's none the worse for wear. His big fat tongue is now licking the mayo off the plate from my first tomatoes Good thing my dishwasher has sani cycle! Edited for keyboard errors and aborted post due to aforementioned big fat tongue, attached to fluffy butt that is now OUTSIDE! Glad to hear she's better!
