I'm hoping that Val and some others that have multi pets that feed raw read this. A friend of mine recently acquired a bobcat kitten rescue. She took him to the vet for continuous watery stool. Vet told her she has to feed meat, mostly raw, but no raw chicken because of salmonella. I feed Miya semi-raw diet. I feed 1.5 cups totw kibble, and add cooked meat, daily RMBS, and then I rotate between eggs, pumpkin, yogurt. She gets a grain free biscuit, occasionally raw hide, cow ear for treats. I discovered Miya can not tolerate typical kibble because of the grain or food colorings. I haven't gone all raw, although I do know the formula, 80/10/5/5 percents. I just like the kibble to give her what she may need in vitamins, since raw doesn't include fur, and in the wild wolves do eat fur for the fiber content. Otherwise wolves who didn't eat fur would be lacking in this.
So, I have a pretty good grasp at feeding raw, atm, I like my 50/50 way. This poor kitten has lost his canines, too young, lack of calcium. How do I convince my friend to feed raw chicken, knowing this would be the best protein to start. Am I right that the RPM diet for dogs would be good, I am going to suggest sardines as well , because I do know cats need a few different things than dogs to stay healthy.
Please can someone help or give me a place to go to get more info.
thanks,
Renee
More info on little guy he is about 11 to 13 weeks old and 3-5 pounds. She started him on kitten formula and then went to kitten/cat kibble.
